On my Alero I had camaro style muffler put in, basically the muffler sits horizontally directly beneath the trunk. and then there is an exit on either side. Now I know this worked on the alero due to the amount of space under there. Cant for the life of me remember what the spacing was like when I was under the balt puttin the GMPP on.

[QUOTE=CTCOBALTSSS;782521]I don't think it's a split I think it's one muffler mounted sideways with 2 pipes coming out of it going to the rear of the car.

Like this but with a muffler in between not just a straight pipe.

o okay. that makes more sense

The muffler on an SRT 4 is at the back, and it does sit under the the trunk. it has twp pipes that come out of it an bend around to the cut outs in the body of the car at the back.

I told her to get a dual for the Cobalt, you will have to get it custom made. I'd love to get the GMPP Performance esp since CED is having a kick ass sale!

In my opinion, I think a dual exhaust 4 cyl looks kind of wrong...

Anyone know of a dual exhaust out there? What are your thoughts on dual exhaust on the Cobalt?
The GM exhaust costs way too much. Custom is way cheaper.

true dual way to much money

-custom exhaust manifold with 2 exits - $$$$
- 2 x the piping - $$
- 2 cats - $$$
- 2 reasonators - $$$
- 2 mufflers - $$$$$

just not worth it for us.

go custom.
-2.5" down pipe with high flow cat.
-2.5" reasonator
-2.5" y splitter
-2 x mufflers
-2 x tips
if it's just gor the looks, then split after the so you don't have to buy 2.
but it looks retarded when 90% of the exhaust comes out of only one side.
but you can solve that issue by shrinking the diameter of the short pipe, or by making sure that both exits after the muffler are the same lengh, and are mirrored images of eachother.

i am in agreement with everyone if you do it take it to a shop and get the muffler with 1 in 2 out have it mounted right behind the resonator then have them run pipe for the dual outs. it will illiminate the Y you need and the other BS you may have happen with a L or one side pushing more than the other. and with the dual out your also gonna be able to have closly matched lenths of pipe and should breath ok but you may loose a couple ponies

It's not going to be a true dual exhaust. You can do a dual outlet exhaust. But IMO it doesn't look right on the cobalt.

Not many people have fully read/ understood my opening post...its my WIFE who wants a dual exhaust, just for looks. I know there isn't a true dual for a 4 banger, LOL! Its her car remember...

I don't think $350 is expensive for the GMPP Performance...I'd bet a custom would cost more than that! Not to mention, its a proven fit...I never know what I am going to get sound wise or performance wise with a custom.

So look at al the Camaro's built from 1981 and on. They had a single exhaust that turned to duels for just looks and it was a good job. Same with the Fire Bird's and some Mustangs too.

Sure its just for looks but IMO its a great look!

DISCLAIMER: 4th gen F-bodies had true duels.

Thats my concern...I don't want it too loud...moving to Virginia, and the cops are strict as hell out there...I told her don't be surprised if you get pulled over and they make you pull the tint off...

why would a dual outlet muffler be luder then a single one? Especailly if its the same muffler?

Nope. They didn't. Manifolds to y-pipe to single straight pipe to dual outlet.

No, I meant a custom exhaust might be louder or even a different tone then something already made.

Huh? Thought they did. Ok then all the Camaros and Firebirds from 1974 on had fake duals then.

Worked for them why can't it for us?
