is there a way to add more back pressure?

okay I have a header, dp and 3" exhaust frankly I think I don't have much backpressure for my mods. Is there a way like putting an extra resonator or something in the mix to obtain more back pressure? Or maybe a 3" inlet to a 2.5" outlet muffler? I REALLY don't want to get a new exhaust put on..

switching to a 2.7" and corresponding mods soon, but right now I have a 3" pulley and 42#

Why would you want more back pressure? With a 2.7, you should AVOID back pressure!

don't worry about it since the 2.7 is going on. i hit 273/250 on a 2.8 and full 3" header back. a 2.7 will produce great numbers. what do you mean by "corresponding mods" though?

but if all else fails. potatos work great.

try an exhaust tip baffle i used to see mustangs with them all the time... or you can just leave it be because there's nothing wrong with it

The level of idiocy in this thread is amazing.

In switching to a 3" exhaust system he lost a lot of low end torque, partially caused by getting rid of the backpressure in the system. Huge exhausts are great for WOT, terrible for daily driving.

Switching to a 2.7 will help this a lot. I'd say wait for that before you go doing other **** to your car.

keep the 3" you don't want to go smaller if you plan on going bigger in the future

This is what I meant! Thank you! I don't know why others have to be assclowns about it. The thing is I do not do burnouts like I used to. My high end 40+mph is great , but it takes a bit longer to get there. Plus my exhaust backfires when I shift? normal?

Oh and by the way, what is the point of calling me a *******? I would like you to tell me that in person and we can see how your face feels afterwards

corresponding mods= injectors + tune (some people are not so bright and think I might just throw a smaller pulley on)

If you're talking about the popping noise, that's normal and nothing to worry about.

no. the reason i asked is because you don't have your mods listed.

isn't WOT when you want all your performance anyways???

as far as a 3" not being able to provide enough trq...idk about that

back pressure on a forced induction car is not your friends you want to open it up so you can throw a smaller pulley or more boost on it.

Obviously, but since most of us only go race a couple times a hear, it makes sense that he'd look into improving the daily drive over ***** out performance. If I could swap my 3" out for a 2.5" system at no loss, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Didja miss the part where I said low end torque? We're talking daily driving scenarios - below about 2500 RPM my car felt slow as hell compared to the stock exhaust until I threw the 2.7 on it.

quite ethuggin it country boy, not your style. Go ahead drive your tractor up here... don't forget your cousin and half a deer... now please shut up and let us men talk about back pressure and how it is most likely essential for low end power. 16? lol. give me a break, rednecks make me giggle.
