Post Things to Know about the INtense kit.

Okay guys, Ive been testing the way my car works in different conditions and its time to let you all know all the HW ive done. First of all I have four very accurate gauges, Autometer CObalt Boost and EGT and the AEM Uego wideband and the interceptor.
First of all If you live in a hot state, I recomend you get all these gauges.
Everytime you do a run you exhaust temperature increases dramatically( Going wide open throttle) Also you air intake temperature also goes up, These two can be monitored Via egt gauge and interceptor. Lets say you do three runs without letting you car cool down for at least one minute You exhuast temperature will get to 15 and the air intake temperature will go up to 150 ( Not sure what scale these are) If your egt reads higher than 15 and interceptor higher than 150 then your PCM will kick and it wont get cheated by your MAF T translator no more and it will throw excess fuel to cool down your pistons, making your car misfire and run like complete crap. Everytime the PCM kicks in in my car I get 10s in my wideband. Very BAD. the car feels like it loses 40 horsepower. it runs waaay too rich.
SO what I do is I make a run from forty to like 120, when I get to 120 my exhaust temperature is already at like 15 and the air intake temp is at 140s. I let it cool down to 12(EGT) and 100( Interceptor) and then I run it again, If I did not wait this amount of time then My PCM would kick in.
My MAF T is currently set at Base C and WOT on F. It runs perfect, at wideopen throttle all I get is 12s in second gear and high 11s in third.
SO I recommend if you live in a hot state to please get these gauges since you can monitor your car and it will never overheat making your PCM ruin your perfect run and lose to your opponent on the second run.

QUestions welcome Im here to help in the most I can.

One of the solutions Rob suggested was water injection so ill prolly go for that later on after my scdyne headers come in next week.

funny we went thru this all on srt forums....the Big turbo over Stage 3r debates...in the end the ability to install stg 3r and just drive the car FAR outweigh the large turbo kits, ya your peak hp is better, but pound for pound the stg 3 is just faster on the track, I like the intense kit but the plug and play ease of the gm kit is the way I will go.

plus who knows if all things being the same are tru putting the sm pulley w/gm kit might just give the extra boost we seek, pun intended lol

Too cold out, but someone should at least get video of a run with a shot looking at the speedometer

All you need to do is buy one to two gauges. Then check them to see if you're running either to lean or to rich, then adjust the maf translator. That's it. You might have to do this for those of you guys that are going with GM's stage 1 or stage 2 with a 2.8 inch pulley because their kits were designed for 3 inch pulleys. So if you go 2.8 with it, you will most likely have to tune that also. You have to play in order to be in the game

have you been keeping an eye on your coolant temps when you do these runs? if so what are they reading when the pcm goes into this mode? i mean, my coolant has went up to 215 (mind you thats the hottest ive ever seen it get) before and pulled as hard as it does when it reads 183

It will do the same thing!!!!!! The Intense kit or anyone ele's kit will have NO BEARING on what the pcm is doing as far as this protection mode goes. GM will NOT change this protection built in. Come on guys, THINK a little bit!

The wbodies suffered thru these same growing pains, PATIENCE!!!! Once access to the PCM code is available, your mouth will fall off at the amount of gains that will become available. Hint, it aint going to be in the gm stage kit

What the PCM is monitoring is SC outlet temps, once it sees 145+, it commands a VERY ricj mixture to protect the engine! All the GM SC cars do that. In the Wbodies, there is a table in the PCM which is, PE vs Time vs RPM,, after about 15sec in PE mode, the PCM started commanding a very rich mixture, at 106mph it pulled boost and timing!! Again, to protet the engine from excessive heat.

PE= Power Enrichment aka; Wide Open Throttle or 40% TPS and above transitioning to wot.

Then you just voided your beloved warranty with that smaller pulley!

If the PCM sees high intake 2 temps it will activate the boost bypass which people are disabling left and right by pulley the tube going to the soliniod.

Also what EGT values are you seeing ?

you say 12 then 120 , do you mean 1200 degree F? Thats not that hot.
