Time attack cobalt Motor
anyone have any information on what gm with modifying the head and bottom end?
Curious to know if they had ported and polished also. Upgraded pistons/rings and if they used stock sleeves?

the build book was done partially off our work. Some of the pictures were taken at our shop.
The time attack motor had a gmr exhaust ported head. That cnc profile is used to this day, when a run of heads is needed, most recently two years ago, and these last ones sold to me or to CED
Diamond pistons
stock rods
ferrera valve springs
Nitrous system was done by Harold Martins shop, and a guy worked there at the time, he did an awesome job.
Stage 3 ecu and pulley.
ARE dry sump another masterpiece.
The motors themselves were built under the watchful eye and guidance of Bill Duncan who attends CED meets and is very switched on to this car.
The time attack winning run, the car saw about 400 hp on a 50 shot. The quoted time attack figures were for the general public and to keep Grand Am off our backs (not that it worked) Grand Am penalized the Cobalt every time it won. The LNF version ran less horsepower than stock the year after it won the Grand Am championship, my tvs redline was qwiker up the straight at Mosport than the LNF Race cars.

the tv show the stock car ran 211 whp on the dyno. The time attack car ran 265 whp (of course) The GM guy was happy but immediately sad as we were racing in Grand Am and they watch Speed TV as well.

the site that hosted those vids is down. Somewhere I downloaded a show for you but gosh knows where, I will maybe have time over xmas to go look, so email me over then.
I still talk to Dan Woods from time to time, he is the ex Degrassi tv show actor turned produced who masterminded those shows, so maybe can get the whole lot of them if tis a big deal.

the Grand Am tech inspectors suspected that the LSJ was more powerful than presented, and the "build spec" that we had gotten approved got degraded as the car was fast out of the box. The car made 205 hp officially so a bone stock car pulling 211 wheel was not good on TV as it became public knowledge, the tech inspectors would call the GM rep and ask for explanations etc...
I've been searching quite a bit trying to find the GMR heads for sale in the hopes someone was trying to get rid of one. Don't seem to be so lucky. Someone had one for sale on here last year and I missed purchasing it.
