Transmision worries

Hey guys, well as my car gets closer and closer, im getting more and more worried, soon ill be pumping a fair bit more of horsepower into this little car, am i excited yes i am, but now im my only problem is that, im worried about the transmission on these cars, i know im not gonna overly worry too too much this year, but next year im curious if i should budget it instead of my much wanted paint, but i like power lol

so im curious i know some have blown these trannies, my buddy having gone through 2 of them already,

so im curious what options we have for upgrades and what we can do to beef these trannies, up, i was thinking of getting the gears treated to handle more power,

i know a couple of the drag cobalts are now automatics, do we know what tranny they used etc...

im just looking for info, not anything that i wanna do right right now, but i am deffinately interested as its either i keep the car and keep modding or i trade it in for a new Evo

The LSJ ECU can handle an auto transmission... apparently the software to control one is already in there... you'd just need to enable it in HPTuners or the like (so I've been told).

Now I believe the tranny out of an auto. cobalt can take some power... esp. if you put a shift kit and a tranny cooler on it (talk to some of the 2.4 auto turbo guys). They're running decent power through the thing.

Yes the Pro/FWD cars and almost all the Sportsman class cars use automatics. 4T65-E
trans assembly for race applications only. But even these are a long way from stock.
The Grand Am Cup road race cars use the stock trans with the only modification being the switch from
a 4.05 gear to a 4.45 gear.Choosing a drive train for your car is the toughest thing there is.be practical
about the cars intended use and choose wisely.
