trifecta tune opionions for the lsj

I cant find any local place to dyno tune my car so i was going to go with a trifecta tune, But after searching through threads It sounds like trifecta tunes are pretty worthless for the lsj. I have read that people have gotten beat with 2.8, 60's, supporting mods, trifecta tune vs a stage 2 intake exhaust. My mods right now are gm stage 2, I/H/E, zzp s3 h/e, dual pass, 2.9 sitting in my room but i was going to wait for a tune to put it on. My question being is it even worth my time and money to put on the 2.9 with a trifecta tune?

It's a member on here that does it, or at least used to. He lives down by NYC. I had him tune my car while I was down there visiting some college buddies.

Car runs so grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat. Yeah, like frosted flakes.

Well I'm biased because I sell tunes for Trifecta, but I also run one of Vinces tunes on my TVS setup.

I made 278whp/255ft-lbs with the stock TVS pulley and basically just intake and exhaust.

Compare to any other dyno with the 3.15 and NO meth, and you wont find much better. (not just peak numbers either)

A lot of people seem to dislike trifecta for one reason and one reason alone: they dont let you tweak your tune with HP Tuners.

THAT HAS CHANGED. As of Monday Trifecta has been offering FULL HP Tuners compatibility.

This means you can buy Vince's custom tune, have him dial it in, then tweak it yourself if you or your local tuner feel the need.

With Trifecta Stage 3 on the horizon, the LSJ is about to enter a golden age of awesomeness.

If you want to read more about it just click here: GM Stage 3 with A/C & Full HPT Support!

Tunable LSJ/GMS3 calibration - We have a special version of the 2006-2007 GM Stage 3 tune for the 2.0L / Supercharged engine that is tunable using commerically available tuning software now. Send us email for more details if you are a tuner and are interested in using it!

Tunable Trifecta LNF tune - We also have a special version of the 2007-2010 Trifecta tune for the 2.0L / Turbocharged engine that is tunable using commerically available tuning software as well. Other tuners can now take advantage of all the goodies Trifecta has unlocked in the LNF ECM! Send us email if you are interested in this.
^ This isnt limited to only the new Stage 3 cal. You can go for a regular tune too, but in a little while there will be no reason to.

You havent been looking hard enough. When Trifecta Stage 3 comes out with the A/C unlocked I'll give you a discount just to change your mind.

hey man when i see a trifecta tuned car beat an hptuned car Ill believe somethings changed. Ive talked to so far about 4 guys that had 60s and a 2.8 or smaller that got SPANKED by stage 2 cars. So if your lazy get trifecta, if you want to unleash the potential in your car get a real tune.

That doesnt mean anything at all. All of those guys could have been heatsoaking to high hell with those "2.8 or smaller" pullies.

Anyway it sounds like you're set in your stance. You've got the right, but don't [/thread] for everybody else just because you have a strong opinion about something you heard about from 4 guys you talked to. Shooting down something you know nothing about does zilch for this community.

Yes sir, all LSJ and LNF tunes anyway. (excluding dual-tune, since HPT doesnt support all those extra tables. we might be able to tune one of them though)

RoelSS from the forums here volunteered the use of his 2005 GMS3 module to us. 2005 support should be online by the time it goes on sale.

The stage 2 car was tuned by a hell of a tuner, that's why he beat the other car. That car was also re-tuned by me and is a lot better currently.

I think a custom tune is much better then any canned tune, however there are several down sides to other companies in my honest opinion. The fact that the cable has to be shipped back and forth to get things done kinda sucks. The fact that some people feel that Vince is using the incorrect injector scaling/pulse width adders doesn't help either.

There is a lot to be said about all the different companies who do tuning, however no one can deny that a custom tune tailored to your own car specifically is always much better and the only company that can offer that is TTR.

well i know that everyones tune is the best, but the fact is that trifecta is my only option unless i want to drive 6 states over. I called around to all the performance shops in my area and they have never heard of hp tuners or tunning my car for that fact, In the great state of oregon if you dont have a evo or wrx your options are very limited. the gm stage 2 tune, or any stock car has a "canned tune" doesnt it? The tune that i need seems like it should be very basic. Im just afraid of losing power like people claim with trifecta. Zach06cobaltsc i know you have alot of expirence with tunning, is it safe to just throw the 2.9 on my car when i want to go to the track? In high school me and a few friends had tsi talons and we would all crank the boost up to fuel cut off, never once did we blow a engine up and they were abused 150k engines. Are the cobalts really this finiky?

My experience with trifecta was horrible. I am one of those guys Blackbalt was talking about. I was not heat soaked either, I had a 2.8, 60's, meth, full header back exhaust, Dual pass with option b, OTTP large H/E etc... and he had a stage 2 car with an air box mod that's it we raced probably 4 or 5 times and every time he would walk away on me. On top of that I told Vince about it and that my car still didn't seem to run right (rough idle smelled rich etc.) Did probably 15-20 datalogs and still couldn't get it to run right. He said it looked all good from the datalogs and didn't know what I was talking about and wanted the tuner back. Sent it back and a week later my car freaked the **** out, kept wanting to die then went into limp mode. Got a local custom tune with Hptuners runs like a champ now. I will never deal with Trifecta again.
