TTR Stop Mounts
I recently installed the Tranny mount and noticed a large amount of vibration. I know with solid mount some vibration is going to be there. I was wondering If anyone else has installed these and had the same issues?

Oh mi. imagine. ask Aaron for help.

You will have some, we are suprised to hear that if you have the TTR Upper engine mount, vibs are less... We have some customers you can ask for reference if you wish, let me know? Otherwise I am sure they will post here and let you know, that this is the case.
Vibs will also go done with time, as they break in a bit. The STOP mounts are designed to have a more firm mount, to keep the engine from flopping around. We did not want to offer a product to not prevent movement. Movement helps with wheel hop, flex pipes from breaking, and also transfer the power better to the wheels. |

I think the mount for the Redline is different than the cobalt isn't it?
I have the STOP mounts and have some vibrations, but it doesn't bother me! Feels very connected :) |

Yeah, My vibrations are when I get going from a stop and it almost feels like the car is going to rattle apart. But if I give it more gas when starting it feels fine somewhere around the 1200rpm area
|
Yeah, that's common on cars with Poly or solid mounts.
|
when i did mine, the vibration was high for about 300 miles. Then they kinda "broke in" and it calmed down a little bit. It never really goes away but it does die down somewhat.

Agreed, mine felt like it was going to fall apart for about 500-1k miles, then it mellowed out a lot, and was a bit more bearable.
|
Yes time helps the vibs a lot, it does not take much time either.

did you loosen the upper mount bolts ,while the center bolts in the trans mounts wer loose to allow the motor to physically move?

All bolts accounted for and torqued to spec. |
I have both the STOP Mounts and the Upper engine mount. I would say let your STOP mounts break in for about 1000 miles then get the Upper engine mount and have it installed and once that breaks in you should not have as much vibrations and the car should feel overall firmer.
|
It will go away! I had PM'd Aaron right after my install and thats what he told me, sure enough they did mostly go away. I did get some minor vibe's on cold starts or if I bogged teh car leaving a light etc..
After the breakin I had people get in my car and ask if I took them out :) (I didnt) lol |
Thanks

thats fine but did the motor physically rotate?

I think he's talking to the OP. Whenever you install rotated mounts (like the Stop mount) you need to loosen the top mount to let the engine adjust to its new resting position before torquing everything up.

Here's John's instructions for the OTTP mounts (same thing).
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...72&postcount=3 Since it's all torqued in there now, I'd say just loosen the top mount bolts and retighten them. That should let the mount shift without having to undo everything. |
