Turbo conversion

hey i have a few questions about eliminating the supercharger and going just with a turbo kit, am looking into the stage 5 kit-( http://www.turbo-kits.com/cobalt_ss_turbo_kits.html )
am was hopeing that someone can help me out. can the stock engine and internals handle this kit and if so how much power can the engine handle ? (2005 cobalt ss supercharged 2.0l). and how much power will this kit produce just bolted on ? if someone has done it if they like it is it a good idea so on and so forth, thanx alot

The amount of power the motor can handle is dependent of the tune. 300whp on a stock motor used to be the "known" limit. But, now many people, including myself, have pushed their stock original motor to over 400whp.

Wit the Hahn kit and a safe tune for about 20 psi you should see 350whp. Good luck.

i say if you not willing to drop 5-6k dont do it. i just bought the kit and had to buy other crap so it runs right(nothing major) but you never kno whats going to happen during install so having extra cash will help in the long run. as for the kit i got the lvl 4 about a week ago and its nasty! i love it and would never go sc on a 4cyl again
im on a 79lb injector base tune running rich as hell and still i whip ass on the street and the motor and the clutch is fine, hp wise i cant tell you yet but im in the 300whp range, ill tell you that once the tune is modified at 18psi is game over

did you guys go with a stand alone management ? what about a cheap turbo kit off ebay or just a turbo kit for a different car and then just getting everything else like manifold injectors ect.

hptuner pro suite, check out ottperformance.com

as for the belt, rebel made a dummy pulley to keep stock or you can run a 2.2 alt.. Or if you are keeping the stock lsj I/m you can use the zzp rotor elimination kit, lots of options do some searching

Get the hahn kit or start doing some homework there's a fair amount involved in doing the swap properly

5-6k? Yea right! lmao. You can easily get away with a decent home made turbo kit for less than 2k. Hell ZZP has a turbo kit for 2k and if you have the ability to fabricate yourself the price of course goes to pretty much nothing. The more you know the cheaper it cost.

no just take off ur lsj alt and welt it so its spins both ways. ur use a 2.2 cobalt alternator. and get the 2.2 or 2.4 pulley tensioner and the belt and thats all to it.
