Turbo Kit in the Works! No ****

Fellers,

I just spoke to an unnamed person over at hahn motorsports. I asked him about the availability of a turbo kit for the Cobalt SS. He said R/D is finishing up on the SS now, and is going to complete work on it around the beginning of summer time. They are also putting the finishing touches on the 2.4 turbo as well.

I asked him the pricing on the unit, and he said around 4K.

Well how about that ****? Dual Charged SS. Unbelievable!

I'm thinking group buy here, what do you think?

You're sure he didn't mean the 2.4SS?

Interesting...they didn't put the turbo in there in the first place because it wouldn't fit the engine bay of our cars. Would be neat to see both a turbo and a sc stuffed in there, but my money's on a turbo for sc swap.

How exactly does "twincharged" work? Can you get a bov while still having the great whine of the sc?

I talked to them 2 weeks ago about the kit and said they were finsihing it. They are doing a exhuast for the turbo kit and well as for the stock sc, look in my signature. Bill Hahn called me personally. He's a great guy and they make great products, check out their exhuast when it comes out. I'm getting it final fitted in 2 weeks about.

I've already seen the Twincharged Cobalt with the Hahn turbo, the car looks awesome, he said he dynoed just over 400HP, and it still need some major tuneing still.
and man did it ever sound cool to hear the SC scream then the Blow-Off-Valve flutter.

I am building my engine specifically to bolt on a turbo and take full advantage of a twincharged system. Now that this sounds closer time for me to get a hold of Hahn Racecraft

I think for all those guys that want to do this twincharged setup, you better plan on more than 4grand because there will be so many components you will need to change to hold that kind of power.

Ding Ding Ding.

We have a winner. From what i've read, and I don't remember where, the turbo kit isn't going in the engine bay, rather the trunk.

I'll try to find the article, scan it, and post it this weekend.

That's not why...

Engineers can make anything fit if they want it to be there.

Theoritically, yes.

That's the thing...you ask different people what will this do power wise and there are constant arguments as far as this being a power adder or not. I feel it won't...

Not matter what you add on, your supercharger still runs off your crankshaft and the speed of it (RPMs). Adding on a turbo on won't make your supercharger blades spin any faster, which ultimately, is what makes your power. Sure, bringing air faster to the supercharger can help but it's not going to be something that's going to be tremendous. Fact is 11 PSI on your supercharger + 5 PSI of turbo boost won't = 16 PSI of boost that's actually entering your motor.

If you're actually looking to make tons of power, take off the supercharger and run the turbocharger. Other than that, don't expect much...it's more of a show piece than performance.

I have also been talking to Bill Hahn! He is a great great guy! The cobalt turbo is right in the back of the engine bay! They have the prototype in their shop! Its kick ass! a lil over 400 whp but poorly tuned I hear. So with HPTuners and that should be kick ass!!! My name is on his list so I can test out the final piece!!! Wont be free but Im hearing atleast 75% off installed!!! So I cant wait!!!

I'm 90% sure there was a single turbo LSJ engine on the Garett booth at SEMA last year (ours was right opposite them). It wasn't in a vehicle but it looked like a kit they were planning on selling.

Memories of SEMA are a little foggy now
