Turbo Question?
Hi Guys I want to know somethings about the turbo.
What is the A/R? Trim?
What should be a good A/R and trim for a 2007 stock internals cobalt LSJ?
What turbo i should run?
I want to archieve 400-420hp. And little lag, street/daily use driving.
Thanks

A/R trim is the exducer wheel trim. Most go with a .63 A/R.
I have a Bullseye S256 .70 A/R which will give me more top end. But at the same time I will lose spool time. Going to have more lag.
And the turbo is up to you.
Budget?

not much to spend on a rear mount setup, unless you were planning on selling your current parts to fund you're new build
personally i love the garrett 60-1 .63 a/r exhaust, its about 700 after shipping

You could probably find a t3/t4 50 trim for that price.

They come standard with journal bearings. I'd upgrade to ball bearing though. if not you're looking at ~$850 for that turbo.

Upgrade to a bigger turbo.
My turbo will be laggy but I am going to have NASTY top end in it. I'm gunning for 400+ out of 20-22psi. Aiming for 11's in the 1/4. Not sure if that will happen though. Traction is a bitch at these tracks close by.

DAM! thats faster than i thought. I saw an article once with a honduh 2.0 that had a .80 something trim turbo he made 200whp up to 5500 then went to 650whp at 8500. the HP curve was almost straight up! it was insane. sorry for thread jacking...

Dual ball Bearing>>Ball Bearing>>Journal Bearing.
If you can afford it, go with ball or dual ball bearing turbos. You're spool time will drop with it.
And make sure you get something that is a t3 or t3/t4 style flange. If you get DSM it will be a pita for you. And EXTERNALLY WASTEGATED.
