Has anyone ran a TVS on an 05 Cobalt? Back when the Cobalt first came out GM said the cast pistons and rods can't handle over 300HP; so I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue?

I thought the LSJ came with Forged Rods but cast pistons.

 

Thanks! A friend of mine had an 07 Cobalt SS with a TVS and hasn't had any problems; but he is into 1/4 mile races whereas I'm into long distance races 100+ miles, so thought maybe GM put better pistons and rods in the car between 2005 and 07.

 

You race for over 100 miles? That's interesting.

But it would be fine. Just get a proper tune.

Lots of people have run it and I wouldn't be worried about the engine until your pushing 400 whp, the trans is more likely to fail with the TVS than the engine.
