TVS dyno #'s
There was a get together in Columbus this afternoon for a local car club, and they were generous enough to bring a dynopack portable dyno for all the cars. Best thing, it was free!
There was no tuning allowed while on the dyno, but I was able to make a log of my 3 pulls on the HPT scanner.
The following are the "need to know" facts :
K&N Typhoon CAI
LS4 tb
TVS with stock 3.1" pulley
79 lb/hr injectors
NGK BKR7E's gapped at .035"
Diamond Forged pistons (9.5:1 no coatings)
Cometic Head gasket
ARP head studs
GM dual-pass intercooler endplate with Opt B
CX racing dual pass heat exchanger
ZZP mid-length header/cat-less 3" downpipe/ full 3" exhaust
(mostly) my tuning with HPT
And here's what happened on the dyno :
Ambient temperature 87*
cars sitting in line for a while, heat-soaking before actually dyno-ing
finally getting to the dyno was a get-in, hook up, 3 pulls, wheels back on, get out so the next guy can go process. all in all took about 6 minutes
dynapack "hub" dyno (where they take your wheels off and attach adapters to slot into tq-reading "machines")
3 back-to-back dyno pulls with no cool down
my afr read anywhere from 11.2-11.4
17-18* timing
iat2's after a wot pull hit in the 155-160 range
dyno guy only revved to 6500, even though i told him i had the rev limiter set to 7200.
And here's the dyno sheet :
You can see I need to work on the torque down low. You can also see the graph cuts off at 6500 and is still continuing on its way up.
My thoughts on today's events... I am happy considering the conditions and the conservative tune. I need to work more on dialing in the MAF as my tune is mostly MAF based. I hit 284.8 whp with conservative timing and very conservative A/F ratio. I do not consider myself to be an expert tuner by any means, but I do know that there is lots of room to work with. I can easily hit over 300whp with some tuning, and some cooldown time before and between runs.
For those of you with HPT that would like to see my logs of the dyno runs, PM me.
Any thoughts?
And Zoomer - stay out of my thread. I know I can make more power with a turbo.

i think 300whp and then some can be had rather easily, with some cooldown time and of course a better tune.

like coop said, ported head, meth is a must. i will hopefully be picking up some meth here soon, and the p&p head/valvesprings hopefully by august. then i can pulley down on the tvs and run some race gas and whatnot. we'll see how it goes.
most of what's on the tune is my own doing, with a little help from some others. i do not claim to be an expert at all at tuning, so i should probably become good friends with someone that is...
thank you. there is plenty of room to work with on the tune to shoot me well past 300
