TVS Set-up Suggestions??

Hey guys,

I'm getting my TVS in like a week and I need the help of other TVS cobalts guys on here. I'm just trying to find the limitations of the stock fuel system. This will be my starting setup when I do the intial dyno tune. E85 is every where around me, taunting me, so I'm getting it.

80#s
E85
TVS (Stock Pulley (80mm I believe))
Stock fuel system
ZZP dp (w/cat, 2.5" in, 3.0" out)
Honed GMPP manifold
Vibrant 3" exhaust
Option B dual pass
K&N intake

What pulley can I drop to on this set-up?

What power can i expect with the stock pulley on the TVS?

If you look at my sig, it has my current mods. What gains with this TVS E85 set-up can you guys see over my current set-up?

I've arranged a dyno for a BEFORE / AFTER reading on my cobalt. I kinda like to see how close people can get to my soon coming dyno results.

With gas stock pulley is getting a little under 300whp... With e prob a little over. The tvs wakes up when you drop pulley and rev it out

Without any cooling mods, and jusst doing e85 on 80s, I'm guessing a 2.8?

Is there anyone running a 2.8 on a tvs and doesn't have a return style fuel system?

I wouldn't without some other fueling solution, personally.

*raises hand* New pump and ZZP's BRFPS, w/o the return style option. Running a 2.7" pulley.

You will most likely not be able to drop pulleys below a 2.9 on the 80's on the stock fuel system on the summer blend. You MAY get away with the 2.8 but you may find yourself having to set your rev limiter lower than you'd like. I say throw a 2.9 on it and rev it out to 7400 until you can get a better fueling solution.

Its just that the tuning shop that I will have my car tuned at said that they have done a couple TVS E85 setups. They also said that I could see greater gain if I bought a return style fuel system because it would get rid of some limitations.

I never asked what pulley was on the ones that they tuned but I just have the stock pulley. I really do not want to keep the stock pulley on the TVS for long so I guess I am just trying to figure out what the smallest pulley I can go without a return style system, boost by reference and bigger pump. My car is just a daily driver and I need to keep it that way.

get a return style if your going under a 2.9/80's on e
moving that much air you don't wanna starve the last cylinder
return style promotes equal distribution and also helps the fuel run cooler instead of hanging around in the rail waiting to be used

Ok so I'll buy a return style fuel system if I go below 2.9 on the TVS.

When is it necessary to upgrade the fuel pumps for the cobalts? or it is something that can be overlooked.

I was reading that you could just increase the volts to the fuel pump and gain benefits that way kinda like the ZZP boost by reference system.

What year SS? Mine's an 05, and the pump was upgraded just for piece of mind really. We had heard bad things about the pumps in the 05s going out.

If it's that concerning or you have reason to think that yours might be malfunctioning, upgrade. New fuel pump is cheaper than new engine.

Are you using a 2.9" pulley? I will be running almost the same setup as yours, except I have the return style fuel system already installed.

Also, size of exhaust and header?

Are you using a Griffin HE? I'm considering getting one
