Universal Mufflers

Hey just wonderinf if anyone got a universal muffler? Instead of 600 buck full exhaust system....

How does the one you got sound?

Here is the list of em from modacar.com
http://www.modacar.com/products/Chev.../mufflers.html

I like the Tanabe most...looks good, and Tanabe is awsome...but $$ :P

These welded on I am taken? Or maybe some can be clamped on? J/W

If you are going for looks and sound and care nothing about performance.. get a muffler no gains. But if you want gains, get a catback. if you want to save $$ get a custom catback.

Not true ....I got a nice gain from a just adding a Edlebrock SDT 2.25 muffler to my stock exhaust piping . No dyno , but I trap 102-103 in the 1/4 . I will dyno when I build my resonator back 2.5 exhaust .

After seeing the gains I got with just a muffler , I refuse to blow 600 plus on a cat back . They all sound to loud imo anyways . I am replacing the Edelbrock . I bought mandrel bends , a Borla Turbo XL 2.5 muffler and a Borla tip thats the same as the one u can buy thru GM . Im just gonna build my own 2.5 exhaust from the stock resonator back . When I get up over 300 wp , then we'll start looking into a full 3" cat back .

I dont need a over priced stainless steel bling xhaust to make good power

I'm with you, I added an Apexi N1 Universal muffler and a high flow resonator. Great sound and good mid-range power increase! Stock piping is good enough for now. If I hit 300+ hp then a full 3", headers will be needed.

hey...im sorry for dumb asking...can someone direct me to a high flow resinator?
but isnt gains better without a res? what i heard...unless i heard wrong...haha.
Yes the piping is fine on the stock exhaust...its 2.25...just as thick as the corsa and gmpp...leading exhaust....spend...what? 250 maybe on muffler n resonator(or w/e works) instead of 700 on corsa or 600 on gmpp

If you ever go to a muffler shop, you can see one for yourself. A high flow type is basically straight through with some ribbed metal baffles along the inside wall. The other type is usually 2 chambers. A little less flow but better back pressure. I first tried the muffler without a resonator but found a loss of power going wide open. After adding a resonator, I got the power back and then some.

I just got a 2.5" pipe bent all the way back, into a Magnaflow Race Series Muffler 2.5" Inlet and 4" Outlet looks and sounds awesome, seems like I picked up some gains too.

Well I got a quote today for an exhaust. Will prob get it done in about two weeks. I'm getting rid of the resonator going 2.5 from catback with 60 series flowmaster and then I will put the stock exhaust tip on it. They are charging 425 tax included.

Cashstacker, please post a clip when you get it done. I was thinking of getting a 60 series too. I bought a guitar instead, so I have to wait until I save up again. I think it is going to sound really nice, I hope I am right.
