valves ticking?????

so i was driving my car y.day and i thought i heard a rattle so i turned off my radio and it sounded like my valves are ticking.. i did run my car at the track but its full of oil and i do my oil changes every 2500 miles anyone else had this problem its a 2006 ss sc

mobil one 5-30 i did my first oil change with royal purple 5-30 and then did my last one with mobil one

its not jus on a cold start its all the time now

did you change your header recently? when i changed mine i heard ticking but it was just an exhaust leak that made that similiar sound.

it is normal. dohc motors are not the quitest things in the world on cold startup. 4.6's in mustangs sound like that too. mine sounds like that for about 2 seconds then smoothes out when oil pressure builds up

Check the timimng chain. Mine is still at the dealer. They are in a dispute with me now cause i'm fighting GM cause they voided my warenty cause of aftermarket work which had absolutley nothing to do with the timing chain tensioner!!!!!!!

It sounded like a valve chatter almost like a slightly loose rocker on a V8 or a ticking lifter sound.... Definently the timing chain tensioner. There shouldn't be any slack what so ever in the chain feel free to check it!

i kno its normal on cold start ups but its ALL THE TIME

i got a appointment at the dealership tommorow

my buddy thinks its my cams

idk what the hell is the problem with it but all i kno is they better warranty it the service writer asked me where i have been racing at as soon as i told him i think its a valve tick so they better warranty the SOB or ima be pissed

^^^ If you really care it's a fen nobrainer take off the valve cover if the chain is really tight it's the fen lifters!!!^^^^

I have what sounds like the same thing. I made an appointment to get the timing chain replaced. I'd check to see if it's coming from the left side of you engine though. If so, that would be my prediction.

jus got a call bout 1 hour ago they said they have to tear down a more so they stuck me in a rental car...i should know somethin by late tommorrow or maybe friday

ok got a call y.day from the service writer. he said there was somethin wrong with one of my cylinder heads so they are goin to replace it the only poblem is its comin from canada so it might be in today but if it doesnt it will be mon maybe tues before i get my car back
