Valvetrain Noise.

Yes.. i searched.. but my problem is not the normal "ticking"..

I have teh hahn intake manifold, and it is light weight... i was able to hear the vt inside the head... kinda cool..

well over the past couple days... it has gotten significantly louder.. It almost seems to make a squeking sound as well. And when i mean its loud.. its loud... I can hear it reverb off of teh car next to me...

Checked oil level... It is a little high... It is due for a change as well.. could this be the problem?

Next guess is timing chain tensioner. The sound doesnt seem to be coming just from the end with the timing gears.. it seems to be coming from the head itself..

Thanks!

could it be ur tune? or i'd say bad oil/going bad?

Cougarguy 05-21-2009 07:52 PM

im goin with chain tensioner, it is fairly common for your motor. not a huge deal!

How plausible is this?

drew1991sf 05-21-2009 10:43 PM

as in u need an oil change

BLAZIN07SS 05-21-2009 10:46 PM

has your timing chain tensioner ever been changed?

selby792 05-21-2009 10:48 PM

hey man i just came on here to ask about the same thing. is your car making a weird squealing noise as the rpm's get higher? and when your sitting at a light does it sound like a really bad exhaust rattle? this has been driving me crazy latley

then you have the old style. the new one is on CED for like $55.

ShortStack 05-21-2009 11:17 PM

You think thats the problem?

SSchargedSS 05-21-2009 11:20 PM

it was the 06 -(07?) that had the wrong timing chain tensioner (or wrong design) put in. not 05. but easy to check anyhow

ShortStack 05-22-2009 11:15 AM

the_rainmaker 05-22-2009 11:18 AM

Thank you.. Appreciate the feed back.

New exhaust manifold? make sure the bolts are tight, an exhaust leak here can sound similar
