Vavle Cover Has Hole???

So I get home from the store and I park my car in the garage. I later walk back into my garage to throw some trash out and what do I see....
[IMG][/IMG]

So my first thought was WTF???? So I popped the hood and this is what I see...

Can anyone tell me how the f*** this happened? I'm thinking there was a lot of pressure inside? I've been thinking about getting a breather valve and maybe that WOULD'VE prevented this, maybe ? Someone let me know.

I would take it off and make sure something didnt fly off the timing chain (which i presume is right there, hard to tell in the pic) and bang a hole.

Any other suggestions or comments? I'll take the valve cover off today to take a look, but I wanted to know other opinions.

If it was going to be a common problem, I'd say we would know by now.

im wondering if it cracked before you got in the garage hence why u cant find the piece.... but then again i guess the oil trail would be out to the street. either way, def gotta take the cover off and see what happened on the inside. keep us posted and with pics too! goodluck bud. sorry for your luck.

I don't think you do. Might as well go ahead take out the bolts and if you find out you need to the plugs then what's five minutes to make sure everything is ok in there.

oh man, i couldnt even remember if i removed mine or not, i dont think i did lol. pretty sure i just pulled the coil packs out. make sure u have the tool to pull off those oil line quick release fittings. that back one near the timing chain side is a pain in the dick and you wont be able to use the tool. i improvised using two small scribes.
