Lightbulb Vibrant longtubes

im switching over to a vibrant long tube header....frm what ive hear ill get more overall hp than i will with my 4 - 1 shorty and the downpipe. i just get more low end tq, which is 100% unneeded in an FWD car, lol. anyone think this is a good idea...i mean i already ordered the ****, so ill c how it goes. who here has vibrant long tubes.

and if anyone is interested, my CA 4 - 1 shorty header and my CA highflow 3" downpipe will be for sale once them come off.

the 4 - 1 shorty has been heat molded so there will be no fitment issue with the coolent pipe underneath the header.

and the downpipe has a fiting for a vibrant exhaust....so idk who has a vibrant exhaust...so if any1 is interested in either parts just PM me or sumthing

I think the Vibrant long-tube will be more efficent on your car, but I think it'd be overkill for the 2.2/2.4. Long tubes typically generate more hp in the mid to high portion of a car's powerband, whereas a shorty header gives more power in the low to mid portion. Since you have a supercharger, you don't really need to focus on your low-mid as much as us 2.2/2.4 owners. For 2.4 owners like myself, I think the CA header is superior, but for you and other S/C owners, def go with Vibrant, as it has a 3" collector versus the 2.25" collector on the CA header, and will better complete your overall power band.

You do know bigger is not always better right? You have to size your exhaust for the power output of your engine, since to big an exhaust will cause restrictions the same as too small an exhaust.

Actually, what I was referring to is that if you have too much pipe for the mass of your exhaust, it will allow it to expand through more area, loose heat, and condense. This will slow down the flow of your exhaust, actually creating back pressure (which you don't want), and impeding you low rpm performance. In fact, if you go way to big, it will effect you mid range and possibly even high range performance.

With 3", your going to mostly loose some low end power. Not really a bad thing with the SS/SC since it has too much low end power for a FWD car.

just to let you know... The vibrant exhaust is not a true and i mean true 3 inch exhaust its 2.5 inchs as is the collector for their header and downpipe then about mid range goes to 3 inchs.....its not that the collector of the downpipe is 3 inch its actually 2.5 which mates up to the 2.5 inch exhaust that then goes to 3 inchs

well technically your exhaust is only as big as your smallest piece

Just so you know, the only person that we know of to date that has purchased this header couldn't get it to fit on the car and JBP gave him a refund because it was impossible to make it fit. There are no pictures of JBP ever having this installed on a car and no dyno numbers posted. If you ask me, their HP claim is bullshit.
