victory_red_SS's update (sorry 56k users)
I was out to Toronto the past two days and had meetings with all the shops working on my project. The following is the latest info.
The car is not where I would like it to be as the rear wheel drive conversion is just about to get started. The parts need to be ordered and the wheels have to be in before some important measurements can be taken. These measurements are required before the cutting can start.
The RWD is going to involve quite extensive cutting of the rear of the car. Most of car from the back seat area back will be removed and completely replaced with a tubular chassis/frame.
The whole back suspension and braking components are all replaced. The tubs will be all sheet metal and the new tunnel and much of the "new" floor will all be steel. The front suspension is suspected to remain the origiginal design using the JBP front coilovers and JBP big brakes.
The car is completely gutted at this time so the new cage/chassis can be built by http://www.theautodreamgroup.com/ The cage will be NHRA, chassis certifed for 8:5 seconds.
I have added the extra challenge of making the suspension adjustable enough for the drag strip as well as the road course and I know this adds a great degree of difficulty because "you can't have it both ways"
It seems like I will lose the passanger airbag because of the front crossbar for the cage.
Also the air conditioning unit needs to be repostioned because of the placement of the T56 transmission. I have also said that I am not willing to sacrifice any creature comforts of the car.
We are having difficulty getting wide enough 17" wheels to add to our tires. I will be using the Michelin Pilot Sport 335/17RZ35 for my strret tires, M&H 390/17R17 for the drag radials (see pic) and the slicks will be a 15" wheel make unknown at this time.
JBP is just waiting for the pistons to arrive this week before the engine can be assembled. Once the chassis is done the engine will be lowered in to allow the engine cradle to be made. The car then goes to http://www.desiredcustoms.com/ for the engine bay and cage to be painted and the interior to be designed so that while JBP is then reinstalling the drive train and turbo system, parts can be made for the interior.
The interior will follow a stock theme but instead of a plastic finish we will use leather instead. The door skins will be completely redone to allow for the rollcage to blend with face of the inside of the doors.
The back seat area will be completely finished so the car looks like it came as a two seater. Desired Customs has artistic license on that area. There will be many different gauges and swithches used inside the car and how that all looks will evolve as they are installed.
Desired will also be doing a complete custom paint job including changing the Victory Red to a metallic finish and doing a ghost image. There will be an audio upgrade but nothing crazy as I don't want any more extra weight that necessary.
We wont be going with the G5 hood as thought but will do a modification on a stock hood to meet our needs. We are also going with Desiered Customs custom racing seats wich will be as in the pictures but the insert will be redone in red leather.
There are a couple of components that I can't share with everyone yet and they both address the matter of cooling. These two items will revolutionise the way we (racers) go about cooling our engines. They are going to be patented so while I will have them, they won't be available for a while yet.
Still the projected cooling removes the needed for a larger/extra heat exchanger.
The expected time for completion is closer to the end of June and sadly I see the racing season slipping away. I am actually trying to entice the shops ($$$$$) to make it sooner than later. I will keep everyone updated and as soon as the car heads to Desired Customs for the finishing touches I will announce when the unvieling meet will be held in Toronto.
On to some pics.

My Turbos

My T56
My Seats
Assorted engine parts

Some of the dozen gauges we will be using
Look what finally showed up!!!
I have been waiting for these for almost 5 months. I think they were actually growing these from seeds considering how long they took.

The seats are custom from Keith's former right hand drive Cobalt. You would have to ask him where to get some.

The turbo setup has been drawn up and as soon as the engine is placed in the car the final routing of the piping will be done. The initial schematic of the setup is mind boggling.
This is costing way more than expected and there are no estimates because none of this has been done before. The final cost also depends on the level of sponsorship I get from the companies still providing needed parts. Having said that the wife thinks I am
for doing all this.
Those are being replaced with bionic parts so I'll be okay.
The teasers are all that are keeping me sane right now. If I have to wait sooooooo long then I need to spread the pain out

I understand that. But with a Rim and Tire compbination that big and heavy....You will lose time. If you can achieve the same traction with a smaller tire, why is it necessary to go so big?
