Voiding your warranty
I am just a little confused about what can, or can't, void a new 2006 SS/SC.
A couple of my friends have stated that any suspension, intake, exhaust, etc. will all void my warranty. I want to do alot of upgrades to my car, but I don't want to void the warranty just yet.
So - what can, and can't, I do to my car as of now?

They can't refuse service unless they can prove your mod caused the damage. I have intake and exhaust on my car and took it to the dealer for the suspension and they didn't even mention the mods.

How could they prove something anyways? If I were to get in an accident with another car and damage some part under warranty, would they look at my intake and go "that caused it. Your warranty is voided. Sorry mom." ?

I was in the same predicament you were in when I first got my car. I was told by the dealership that the any problem you may have w/ your car that is caused by a non gm upgraded part that the warranty would no longer take place on that part. I don't think that the upgrades are going to cause many defects so I went ahead and did it. I had all my parts installed at the dealership so they make take a little blame if something does happen to go wrong. Just mod it..

haha yea - just an example. Well, hooray for 220 dollar a month full coverage insurance >.<
I guess modding here I come. Heh, my friends made me worried about it... but I think they're just scared of the car's potential. Stupid import friends... :P

Yea. I'll say. I wash it. It rains the same day. I wash it again. It rains again. Hooray for Tennessee weather. It's not fun when it rans for 3 minutes, and then stays sunny for the rest of the day.

it sux living in a ski resort (me).... imagine how much salt is put down on the roads
ehhh.. just work with your dealer. if you are an ass and dont inform them about modifications, they may give you a hard time. call em and find out what is ok.
here is a good rule to go by....
Cat-back exhausts are ok.... you are not messing with anything essential.
CAI shouldnt bother them too much if you have done a worthy install
Engine Dampner.... i'd be surprised if my dealer even noticed
... anything else dude.... ehhh.. avoid messing with it if you love your warranty.
remember, you can still get a stage 1 or 2 kit. GM made these cars for the tuning market.... they expect ppl to mod them responsibly, while they still honor warranties
and a notorious quote i have heard and will repeat "You are not married to the dealer you bought your car from"
tell them you will business elsewhere. for the most part, dealers like warranty work.

The law says that they need to prove that the mod caused your car to fail in order to deny warranty.
In truth, they can deny your warranty if they feel like it, and you can't do much to stop them. You could try getting a lawyer, but that would cost you more than just paying for the repairs yourself.
Any CPU programming will certainly void your engine warranty. Intake/exhaust are probably safe. A pulley is quite often over the line, but not always. Usually they won't say anything about suspension unless you need suspension work. Also, your clutch won't be warrantied if you increase the power.
My suggestion is to put a good 12000 or more miles on it, until you feel everything is going to last. Once you know the car is in good shape, just mod it then, and don't worry about your warranty.
