water in gas misfire

06 ss sc 70k miles

About 2 weeks ago I had my low fuel light come on and i only had 2 options in gas stations. Neither one was a good choice as i ususally use shell v power. Well after filling up my tank with 93 from a small town marathon, i am going down the road and my car is not as powerful as it usually is. Then all the sudden i guess i hit a small black thing the size of a cellphone and heard it hit in my rear wheel well and watched it soar into the air, about a mile down the road im going up a hill and my cel flashes and the car falls all over its self. I put the thing i hit in the back of my mind and think i have water in my gas. I drive that tank out, and refill with shell vpower, runs stronger at first but still have spark knock. Ran that tank out and still wont have power to make it up a hill, cel flashes for a misfire. Then put a bottle of HEET in with a new tank of vpower, runs like ass the whole tank. Now my cel stays on with a code for cyl 4 misfire, sometimes it'll flash but im still having same issues. the first day my exhaust smelled like eggs so im thinking water buned out my carbon, but what the hell do i do to fix that, its been $100 in gas already

I put some haggard gas in my l61 and it annihilated my injector 4 but was reading as a misfire, didn't find out that was it until i swapped injectors as a last resort, and the misfire moved to the cylinder my bad injector went to. give it a shot maybe?

dont drive your car if your cell is flashing it is destroying your converter! that's what the flash is it means catalyst converter damage is occurring. my guess is not gas or water in your gas yeah it happened right after u got gas but that dont mean **** really its probably just a coincident check your plugs/coil. what are your mods? that always helps also. not bashing you man just trying to help dont want to see u ruin your converter over what u think may be bad gas. also i doubt hitting anything in the road had anything to do with it. u need three things for a engine to run right... compression, spark and fuel keep that in mind its on of the three and water in the fuel would cause all cylinders to miss not just one unless,,,, it clogged an injector

thank you both, im stock as stock can be. my cel only flashes when its under load and i back off till it stops, its currently my only ride. How hard would it be to switch, say the 1st and 4th injector? to see if the misfire code moves. With this happening under load i had thought maybe my fuel filter was clogged.

also wouldnt cyl 4 just be the first to get the bad fuel?

i was blowing 02 sensors right and left about 3 months ago but i had the dealership look at it, and they reprogrammed my computer, and since ive been good. but the car has always felt like it was hessitant to accel. kinda like it was kicking back almost as if the clutch was slipping, but thats def not the case.

so i took off the fuel rail cover and i see the injectors but there like tucked away pretty bad, i wont have access to a shop til tom so what do i take off to access the injectors?

First off somecdealerships can progrm the wrong flash and second if u were blowing 02 sensors then u need to check the cat. Its warrantied a.d has a recall out for it as well.

Take, off fuel rail with injectors. Remove te 15mm bolt for coolant line. Remove the three 10mm bolts that hold one coolant line and two,for fuel rail. Take all of them out to verify there's no corrosion or crud on tip of injector. But I say ure issue is cat related.

well here is my plan of attack:

tomorow im going to see what my plugs look like as well as my fuel injectors and test them with the meter. If number 4 is bad or looks worse than the others i will swap the 3rd one and 4th one reset my ecm and wait for the code to come up for cyl 3 misfire

saturday im going to replace my fuel filter regardless of my findings because ive ran HEET through it and its only a lil $ so no biggie, who knows..may fix it.

monday if i dont find anything with the injector or the fuel filter then morning my dealership will have a silver balt to work on

about the egg smell. i was told that water will clean the carbon out, it only lasted one day so im thinking that was it cleaning it out.

I really appreciate all the help guys, please stick with me for the next few days til i get the bugs worked out. imma need it.

this also can happen forgot to mention that. two months ago i had a plug blow out of my head only when i pulled it out i had to tip at all. after helicoil plug and coilpack it ran fine the tip blew out the exhaust side and is probably in the cat now i hope you have the same luck as i did.. and ohm checking is a GREAT idea as someone mentioned BUT it wont show a stuck pintel only once has this screwed me but u found your problem anyway so your good just saying bc it ohms good doesnt mean it is..
