Yeah since the car has sat so much it could be a rotted rubber vac line on your bypass

i dont think its the vacuum lines, due to the car idles fine. and i took the bottom part of the airbox off, and it was clean, so ill check the pipe up on top.

You never know. If its the lines to the bypass valve, the car would still idle fine, as the default position is open. Under load (and vacuum) it closes the valve = boosties.

If your tires are dry rotting, I would not be surprised if your vacuum lines were as well.

And it probably isn't post-maf, because my tire used to rip off the lower intake above the maf all the time, and let me tell you, the car idles like a spooked horse with unmetered sir after the maf.

Cars are finicky, but I would say to replace all your vacuum lines to check for the problem. Cheap and easy, and it definitely won't hurt anything.

well turns out my lines are weather cracked, but im not sure if there leaking. dont fell any air, or anything. maybe under boost they are, cause it does go up to 4 lbs of boost, then probaly dies off.. but if this fixes it, thatd be great! And thanks for the info man! big help.

Well if that is the case man then chances are high you have pin holes and you won't see them, or feel them because they can be stupid tiny... Car runs like total ****! With bad or leaky vacuum hoses I hope this fixes your issue man..

You won't feel vacuum, because it's sucking air in. Especially when the holes are small.

Yep, they could very easily be leaking.

Be careful, those nipples break easily

Oh nice dude! U know its funny i replaced both those lines the other day because MY car was running like **** at idle lol! Still kinda does, thinking of replacing that thing on top of the m62 and whatever the other line goes to on the drivers side of the block... Just for good measure.

Awesome! Glad it worked.

And to think you were ready to buy a new bypass valve!

I cleaned my maf sensor, and throttle body, and my idle jumping around went away. so maybe that would fix the idle.

I'm surprised the CEL didn't come back after u reset it. I thought a vacuum leak should always throw a code if there's a leak even if you clear it.

Those cars are so goddamn nitpicky it's not even funny anymore. My bouncing idle came back so I'll probably change all the vacuum lines too.
