What engine oil are you running???

Hey Gang,

I have an oil pressure issue on my 06 LSJ. But, before I post it, I want to see what oil everyone else here is running with in their engine.

Thanks
Jake

Mobil 1 5w-30 is all you should need.

I've used the same type of oil from the factory, and changed it as per the oil life monitor. I've been in 110 degree stop and go traffic on the LIE, as well as -10 cold starts with no oil pressure problems.

If you're having oil pressure issues with the factory recommended oil on a stock motor, then you should probably look into it more deeply and fix them.

The brand isn't going to matter. It could be Wal-Mart brand oil. IT DOES NOT MATTER.

The only issue you would have from the oil itself causing an "oil pressure problem", or what ever you decide it is, is the viscosity rating.

This motor takes 5W-30. (5 weight when cold, 30 weight when the motor is at operating temperature.)

Yeah, if oil pressure is the concern you should be looking for another reason for the cause rather than oil type. Unless your using something different from 5w30, which you should'nt be because 5w30 is what this engine needs.

God, I can't believe people run Amsoil in these ****-boxes.. What a ******* waste..

Use Mobil-1 Fully Synthetic, and your engine will not fail due to oil performance problems longer than you will ever own the car.

Hell, Valvoline has a 200,000 mile guarantee on their ****.

I just can't justify wasting $70 on Amsoil + $5 for a filter + tax. On a ******* Cobalt.

$70? amsoil is cheaper than mobil 1 @ $20/gallon -- use the XL, guys at amsoil will even suggest the cheaper xl over their expensive stuff for the ecotec unless it's an all out race motor

and on the oil life meter, amsoil will usually last 1000-2000 miles longer

our cars are "crappy" but the lnf is not. i only use the best oils on my car. lol. royal purple worked great on k20's, so it should work just as well on a LNF.

Dude get over yourself. You drive a grocery-getter Cobalt with a turbo. It's a Cobalt man.

Royal Purple I would use in a DRAG Mustang (Notch), LS1 (Camaro SS), etc. Not a Cobalt, it's a waste, there is no point, and no benefit, at all. And even if there was, the difference would be so miniscule that it would be horribly insignificant anyhow.

if our engines are so insignificant, why use synthetic in the first place? just use conventional, then save more money by running it out to 7500-10000 miles per change
