2.9 would be the lowest possible, but people will still argue that it's not a good idea. It depends on your elevation and your car individually since they all run different. Get a basic cooling mod like a heat exchanger and your car will like you. Some say you can run a 2.8, and some have ran that successfully, but it's better safe than sorry. In my opinion, 2.8 or smaller and you need 60# injectors.

2.9 is the furthest i would go without cooling mods. list of cooling mods. dual pass endplate, methanol injection and a front mount heat exchanger

thanks im deff going to do cooling mods later but i fgured dropping a pulley size would be the cheapest and fastest way to gain a few more hp, im probably guna go with a 3.0, anyone have one they wanna get rid of???

^Just remember, you can drop pulley sizes all you want to "GAIN" power but if you do not have the proper cooling mods you will also start losing power.

I wouldn't go under a 3.0" (if you really want a smaller pulley) until you get cooling mods, I ran a 2.8" with 42# injectors and no cooling mods and has a hell of a time with heat soak and over 100% duty cycle.

Be smart get cooling mods first. And what stage 2 are you getting? GM?

going to 1 step colder plugs is a good idea. it doesnt really cool your engine but it does help alot with detonation problems

I would go with a 3.0, or 2.9 but even that's pushing it. A lot of people run 2.8 on gm stage 2 tunes, but I wouldn't recommend that. And as others said, get cooling mods.

I wouldn't do a 2.8" until you atleast have a Header and 3" downpipe. It's not worth it IMO

its not really that u got lucky. a 2.8 wont destroy your car with no coolings mods. but your not seeing the full potential available, due to your heatsoak

im running 2.9 with 42's and im maxing them out... be very careful. the amount of boost u gain from a 3.0 to a 2.9 is not worth the extra damage done to the motor and the extra risk... 2.9 or lower i say 60's but to each his own.

if you get a custom tune with someone who knows what they are doing, 42`s are usuable down to a 2.8

how would that work to just install a fuel pump? yes the fuel pump could flow the fuel but the size of your injectors will only allow so much fuel through, making the fuel pump useless

Not true all the time. I was at 109% duty cycle on a 2.8" the only thing that would have saved me was my methanol injection if I did buy 60# too. I had a pro tune too....

Stick with 3.0 maybe 2.9... I wouldnt go lower, because if you stay at a 2.8" and do a pull when its cold out your car may have problems with the amount of gas it needs, run lean, and pop!
