What size TVS pulley can be safely run?
What size TVS pulley can be safely run?
I wanted to get opinions from all you other TVS guys out there. I'm wondering what size pulley I can safley drop down to without adding any addition cooling mods or meth?
I'm already running the big OTTP heat exchanger and hatrickstu mod and my iat2s are never over 140 and tend to stay right around 95-100. What do you guys think?
What I'm thinking of doing is either:
79 lb injectors
smaller pulley (size....not sure)
ls4 throttle body
3" intake
tune
or just:
79 lb injectors
smaller pulley
tune
What do you guys think? Would either of these options net me good safe power?
I'm at 274whp and 242wtq what do you think this could do for me? Predictions, comments?

I would suggest looking into meth if your serious about the car the additonal timing will be of great use once you start to push bigger boost numbers.
You could run the 2.9" safely with 60's and meth or just 79's but heat will increase with the increased pressure.

Any other opinions? I appreciate all these but they are basically avoiding my idea. I know I can make more power with meth by pulling timing, but the question is what size pulley can I safely drop to and what power levels do you think my 2 ideas would net.
i agree with Darkmanx on this.... stay with the stock pulley, get the rest of your mods figured out (bigger injectors, meth, dual pass, etc etc etc). then get it retuned, you might be happy with that. if not, then u can start dropping pulleys
with what you have now, you can drop the to 2.9" pulley (i'm not sure of the mm). as for your 2 ideas, i have a 3rd for you to consider....
return style fuel system
3" intake
tune

an option B tank works better than a stu mod no offense to Hatrick he is a good guy. You need to self bleed. I have an 80mm pulley with meth and will go to 70 mm but not until i revise the fuel system. I am on 60's. The tune is at the heart of your power concerns, I am on v.4 and continue to log files. Nopt there yet and its not easy. Its a work in progress, my car is a dd.
The dual pass helps some a single pass even more but that single pass is not an easy deal so stick with dual pass its easy. The laminova company went out of business so there is not an infinite supply and the cores are easy to damage.
The restriction of the laminova set up and the compromises made there exist but its not a big deal as no one is going to practically want more than say 320 whp for a dd. The cost of changing all the cooling stuff is hard enough with the oem conponents ; the cost is silly doing anything different. Water to air cooling is not that difficult from an engineering point of view, and it is possible to re-invent the wheel but not worth the cost. Even the supply of sc cars is finite and the guys who really want big power numbers turbo charge anyway. So to sum it up, get meth, either return style with 60's or 79's, fix your cooling mods and tune tune tune. You could pay Area 47 to help you he has done a lot of work on tvs cars more than anyone else I know...

Yes the ls4 tb does net gains, most complain about the driveabilty becuase the throttle is much more sensitive. Just have to tune a little and relearn driving the car.

what about:
return fuel system
meth
and pulley drop

What kind of gains would it show on average? And would a 3in intake be a must? Or can it work on any intake?

Depends on the pulley size and how agressive that tune is.
With the return style you can lower pressure at idle to help idle qaulity and add fp 1:1 in boost to raise it when you need it. You can keep your 60's for anything the tvs has.
My suggestion 2.75" thats really the usuable limits of the tvs on a stock head car.
Gains are across the board most usually have seen 7~9 whp across the rpm range and dieing off up top.

He meant the ls4
I appreciate the idea, but I probably wont.

I am doing the return style with a pulley drop already have meth. You need I suspect a 3 inch intake, I gotta redline and we have a trailblazer inlet box so we are way better than you
At some point you will need to change out the exhaust, otherwise you will be limited on the amount of timing you can run and the power you will make.
