What is wrong with my car?

I went to the track last night and ran a 14.175 @ 100.57. My fastest time is a 13.746, that was last year. This year I have a few more things done to the car.

Ported head, zzp h/dp combo 3", 2.5 custom exhaust, fujita intake, ported sc, ported intake mani, meth injection, 2.8" pulley, nitto drag radials and custom tuned.

Now I know I should be running a lot faster then a 14 sec 1/4 mile. Can anyone help me find the problem here.

60' - 2.1
1/8 - 9.2
mph - 79
1/4 - 14.1
mph - 100.5

what's your tune look like? AFR? timing?

also, how was your head ported? just exhaust side? got any flow numbers to show us?

what are you reving to and shifting at?

Who ported your blower? who ported you intake manifold?

Euthanasia did all my porting, he did both intake and exhaust, only a little on the intake side tho. Im revving to 7000 rpm, my afr is between 11.5-11.8, track wasnt that bad, didnt spin the tires at all, and it was bout 70ish out whne I did the run

I'd like to see some flow numbers if at all possible.

also what's your timing like?

did you do upgraded valve springs at all?

afr is a tad on the rich side, but it sounds like you should still have picked up quite a bit of power.

I didn't have a good track visit yesterday either, but I matched my trap speed in the 1/8th from last year and I was throttling it all the way down the strip, with lots of boost limiting, and clutch slip. you should definitely have ran faster.

so you did only one run? I'm gonna say it may have just been a bad night for you. Try at least a few runs and see.

just a shot in the dark, please don't flame me lol, but have you changed your fuel filter lately? I had a somewhat similar problem and it was because I had a lot of KR. Just my two cents, like I said, please don't flame lol thanks!

that's weird man...your 60ft is great. Your AFR is good but maybe you should get a retune since you are flowing a lot more air with that ported head.

driver mod needs to be upgraded /end thread.

edit: Now that I have read the thread more either your a really bad driver or the car has a problem. It's pretty difficult to trap 100mph with these cars. Difficult as in you would have to either have something wrong with your car, or you would have to be taking your foot outta the gas. I have had similar 60fts with street tires and still have trapped around 105. I would dyno the car to get an idea of the hp and see if you can get some flow charts from the head work. Its possible that the way the head was ported actually hurt air flow and power. Also its a good idea to do general maintenance if you haven't at this time. Change plugs, air filter, fuel filter, etc.

do you have your times from your 13.7 run? I'm guessing you lost of power on the top end, KR maybe, timing incorrect could be another. See if who ever tuned you can get a log of your runs you'll be able to see where the power is lost....

Well I was running autolite plugs from when we just put the car back together, I have NGK's I just forgot to put em in, and all last and even earlier this year before I retuned the car I was trapping 103 sometimes 105 mph. Last months runs I was only tuned for my fueling basically a safe tune nothing majorly done to it. I know for sure that I could have better starts off the line but still I dont think my tunes should be that bad, and my tire psi was like 25 which I tought was kinda low. Were gonna look at the tune this week and see what we can change.

Ill find my slip from last year and post it up tomorrow

Who is your tuner, Tom aka wicked2005ss? If its not him and just a random friend, send over your tune and I will take a look at it for you and letcha know what you should change.

wow, how 'bout that, you lost on the front end, cause you were still picking up 21 mph on the back end but lost about 2mph in the first half.

oh man I can't remember what causes that....

It could have just been driver error, under/over inflated tire pressure, different shifting points, higher iat2s, different ambient temp, etc. I wouldn't really worry about it if it does not happen every time you go.

last month at dragway 42 werent you trapping 105? Quaker sucks, the last 1/8 is uphill. I'm going to retune you with a bit leaner afr but you really arent going to gain THAT much by running 12.0 opposed to 11.5-.8. When I tuned you, you had 0 knock with 23* of timing. I am more concerned with keeping safe than laying down a number so I dont tune leaner than 12.0.

How long have you had those plugs in? Meth seems to eat copper plugs quicker than normal so I'd check those first since you are running the 7gph nozzle.

If porting is done wrong, you can lose air flow and lose horsepower.
