What is your opinion?

Ok here is the situation, i currently have an Intense tune, which is not a good tune at all. A member on here has a ECU for sale that has the GM stage two tune on it. I was going to purchase it and install it on my car. Is this a good deal and will i have any problems with the tune on my car? We have basically the same mods, except i have a header...

Thanks for any comments.....
Pete

And no offense to CTCOBALTSSS, just trying to make nothing is going to go wrong...

You will need to get a case relearn done... which can be done at the dealer...

what size pulley are you running?

How much is the ECU that he is selling? Can you not find a tuner in your area to give you a correct custom tune for your application instead of spending youor money on the GM2 tuned ECU?

Well if you want the car to run correctly, your going to either need to go to the dealer, or find someone with hptuners to do the case relearn for you.

If you found someone with hptuners you might as well just get the custom tune.

where in WV are you? who offered to tune you? how much for the ECU?

if you buy that ECU you WILL have to go to the dealership to have the crank relearn done, there's no way past that.

If your switching ECU, you dont need to give him any credits.

If he has hptuners... why dont you get a custom tune from him?

Credits cost 50 bucks and you need 2 of them to unlock a car.

let the guy tune you. you'll save money. thru HPTuners he can get the GM stage 2, he can just flash that on and you'll be all good. you'll be a little rich, that's the way the GM Stage 2 tune just is. if he knows what he is doing, he can lean it out and add some more timing as needed. does he have a shop? dyno & wideband?

The guy is very experienced with tuning programs, and he does have a wideband... no shop or dyno. I just want a tune to where my car is running so rich and i actually feel like a have upgrades on my car other than sound! I'll get with him this evening and talk to him about it and let you guys know whats up...

I'll send you a brand new correctly tuned pcm for $200 shipped. You can keep the ecm.

Would still need the case learn done at a dealer with a new pcm. It shouldn't cost much if anything but it must be done.

I think thats the problem with my current tune, i was supposed to take it to the dealer and have them do something? wasnt sure what, but i figured it was just something that didnt need done? Should I just take it down there and tell them to do a case re-learn on it?

You were supposed to get the crank case relearn...

This calibrates the ECU with the crank so the PCM knows what position the crank is at all times...

If you just didnt decide to do this, it will cause problems.

That is why when you are unsure of something, you dont assume its "not neccessary" and disregard it... you follow directions...

Yes you can. Is your check engine light still on? I assume so. How long have you been running without the re learn?
