It replace the stock gauge in the same location.

Why bother with the pillar? This thing takes the place of pretty much another other gauge that you would need the pillar for.

You choose the display color (red, white, or blue) and the bezel color (black or chrome) when you order.

 

Is it hard to read from the driving position?

Very easy unless you have very poor eye sight, but then you prob wouldn't be driving.
