When does monitoring become necessary?

Pretty much what the title says. At what point do you feel it would be necessary to install monitoring tools (aeroforce scan gauge, etc) ? With my current setup (Stage 2, intake, 2.8" pulley) would it be worthwhile or a waste of money?

Ideally anytime you put a modifcation on your car you want to be able to monitor what it does to the vehicle.
