where to get good rotors... cross drilled?
i got the bad steering rack rattle, i'm pretty sure its because i'm still on stock rotors in front, and tons of hard braking from excessively high velocities
anyone get the ebc or sp performance rotors? i feel bad buying online but... idk some reassurance would be nice from anyone thats bought rotors.
so tell me what u got, where ya got em, and how their holding up
thanks

for the slotted rotors, u can pick up both front and rear axles for about 200 bucks! thats like half of their usual price!

Drilled Slotted Brake Rotors Ceramic Pads F+R Chevy /GM | eBay
no way in hell im ordering rotors from ebay. not saying that his arent good but im not taking that chance with a ebay product. somethings arent meant to be bought off ebay.
i got the slotted and drilled rotors from R1 Concepts they are awesome, ive had them almost 3 years and my pads are still good also. best money i spent

I dont blame you, I felt the same way when I found them I was like these rotors are prolly trash, but I kept looking and I found that even some vette owners had used them and gave good reviews, matter fact I didnt find any bad reviews no matter what forum I looked on so I said **** it ill try em and iv been happy with them.
my buddy bought ebay rotors once... they were vibrating right after he put them on..
whats it called, like when a shop is holding rotors up veritcally, the metal kinda bends and u wind up with warped rotors. i just figure most ppl on ebay are selling **** like that

NAPA ultra premium rotors. if you drive anything like i do, drilled rotors won't last you 2 months. drilled rotors are only for show, and they reduce braking performance. slotted may be something to consider if you are willing to pay that much for a wear item, but they are not worth it IMO.

hmm... well tey didn't mention nothing and i sent him my info on the order just to see if he could give me more discount haha so i think (hope!) i'm good, thanks for the hedz up
I like the top of the line or mid grade parts store rotors. No reason to decrease brake mass unless its a purpose built auto-x car (ever seen a CSP miata with custom super light weight swiss cheese rotors? Over heats the brakes right at the end of the run, but its gets trailered there so it dont matter). Or a full out race car. More brake mass = more heat capacity = more hard stops you can do before brake fade. And more brake surface area = more stopping friction and less pad wear.
Now if you were buying brake pads made in the 80's or older, you may want to consider cross drilled because the old old pads did out gas when they got hot.
Pads are where you are going to stop the best. For this car, EBC reds seem like they would be the winner for a hard driven daily driver.

i'm mostly wanting new rotors because of my terrible steering column rattle and having 45xxx miles on stock rotors, and napa/autozone rotors always last what, 3000 miles?
Depends on the pads you run. I'm expecting to get 20k miles out of my auto-part international premium rotors with my EBC reds with about 10 auto-x's (hopefully most of those will be on slicks) But my rotors and overall brake setup is smaller than yours.
They're on the same tier as HP+ but less dust, dust is super non-corrosive, and they have a more consistent pedal feel than the HP+ (cause all HP brakes have that weird being super stupid grabby at the top of the pedal thing). Issues is, because they're ceramic they can be glazed. But if you glaze them more than once it just means you either need to drive better or its time to move up to a carbotec street pad or jump into high dust track pads.
Redstuff Brake Pads Index
To me there's 3 companies that make pads worth buying if you're driving hard.
EBC, Hawk, and carbotec (there's another I cant remember too that is supposedly good, and they give a discount to scca members irrc). Out of those carbotec are the best, but their pads start a 178 dollars a set and go up from there.
