Who has a hybrid?
I suppose.
but considering the big reason to buy them is fuel econ....32mpg is pretty pathetic.
this is the reason europe said a big **** you to the hybrid bullshit.
and sticks with their 50mpg turbo diesels.

buuuuuuuuuuut, if you said " you can have 50mpg, but you have to have a more basic car"
they'd flip. my 1990 geo prizm did 38pmg on the highway with a 3 speed auto no o/d.
it wasn't a rocket by any means, but it was on par with a normal civic/corolla type car. but, it was basic. roll up windows, power nothing, basic A/C.
with a little tuning work im getting over 40mpg (US) or 47mpg (imperial) in my moderately modified cobalt (on 87 octane btw).
leather, sunroof, power windows etc etc etc.
so why buy hybrid again?

I just think it's funny when you see people who go NUTS with the hybrids doing sometimes dangerous stuff to gain fuel economy, and still only net like 30-40 mpg...it's just sad. And the electric car will NEVER work. I can see it, it just wont. it wont sell right, it wont work right, it wont cost right, and most importantly...it wont benefit anyone of any importance... sad to say but I just dont think it ever will.
if you know a little about tuning, lemmei run something by you, is it possible, in theory, to tune a car for max fuel mileage under (lets say) 3500rpm but max power from 4500 up, using the middle range as a "buffer" of sorts?
(props go to curtis/firestorm for doing the majority of the work with our winter mpg tunes)you arent going to get "max" power, as im using 87 octane, so boost is limited, and you cant get as much timing with it, but my 3rd gear is tuned to pull pretty hard for passing etc....and my low rpm cruising areas are tuned for max MPG.
youd be surprised how much MPG you can pick up just by dialing in your fueling tables on a stock vehicle.
remember, GM has to tune their car to run at 5000ft above sealevel in -40 temps, as well as sealevel at 110*
when you tune your car specifically, its naturally going to run more efficiently.
i have mine tuned something like that

it's just IIRC, cars a tuned for max mpg at 55mph in 5th gear. i do 75 on the highway, so i think there are a few mpg to find there
yup im positive you would get better mileage.
just tuned a buddies G5GT last week and we found a few MPG in his car.
we didnt even do any specific high MPG tweaks yet, just dialed in his high/low MAF tables and worked on his WOT tune.

good deal. i'm just curious, the car does like 30 on highway as is, i'd just like a little more
Maybe thats him, i dunno. Havent been there in a year now, well almost year and a half, i just remember wilson, walsh, davenport, and hybrid guy that knows everything and doesnt answer a question, just asks another question back to u
