windshield washer lines---> h/e ?
windshield washer lines---> h/e ?
just curious if anyone has though about or done this before and if it really is worth it to reroute them to hit your h/e with possible different nozzles? doesn't seem like it would be that hard to just try it out. I think that is what I'll be doing today. It seems the windshield washer fluid would be nice and cool since it's away from the heat battle in the engine bay. Am I just being stupid? I assume I would have to buy a couple connectors and some extra line.
well idk about WATCHING the temps go down, you probably would be looking for awhile but maybe if you do a couple shots before a pull it would help? ya I probably got the idea from the sti subconsciously.
Well today is my day off and I'm bored, your right it probably won't be worth it but the only thing I got today is time and it should only take about 35 mins to reroute and tie in place. I searched and have not seen anyone else do this so I'm curious to see if the temps DO drop and by how much.
thats why i said maybe...while in line at auto x he sprayed them for a few seconds and we saw one degree drop....waste of time is what im getting at...like i said its your car. I think it would be better to route them to sticking out of your grille and spray people with them. Youd prob get more use out of them that way

I helped a guy in cali do this to his turbo civic si back in '03. He would throw ice and water in the res when he went to the track to keep the intercooler cool. Can't say weather or not it worked but he thought it was cool.
Wouldn't that be like spraying a hot pan with a squirt bottle? Because there's a fairly small amount of water trying to cool down a large hot surface. I don't see it doing much unless it was high pressure and very cold water.
Just my $.02, I'm far from the wisest mind here

I think the idea has some merit to assist the h/e bring the temps down quickly... Things to consider ..1) Correct, it won't work too well just sitting still which means it would be most effective while moving... 2) maybe setup a separate tank, pump and switch (toggle type maybe) so you can get a longer sustained spray without having your hand attached to your windshield washer switch since that only works while your physically holding it down ...
i got a little nozzle and sprayed it through my intake (as an experiment) and the temps dropped immediately by 2*, I haven't sprayed my h/e yet because it wasn't as hot out yesterday, but I did make my wwf spray like 11ft
wait wait wait....you sprayed water through your intake??

I've seen people in the past. Washer fluid is just Methanol with water so it won't harm anything. Its just like the meth kits that everyone purchases. People can tap into their washer reservoirs as a source.
