If you want to be ghetto like me, I just used a Dremel to cut off the air box right after the MAF sensor and put a 3.5" cone filter on the end. Basically the same thing as the CAI that sell for retarded amounts of money, just less shiny. I guess the aftermarket CAI is a bit wider than the factory but not enough for me to justify spending hundreds on the piping.
You could make your own piping using off the shelf elbows out of the same stainless piping the AEM ones uses too.

Ahh well in that case yeah I'd go metal, that plastic they use is pretty thin. Hard to say. You could just be ghetto and cut out the part of the intake where you're putting the bung for the injector and put a short segment of metal piping in with some coupler fittings.

hahaha yeah. I've seen some pretty ghetto installs in my day, at least you can't really see where I hacked the air box off, you'd definitely see the handy work I just described.

Meh, they all perform the same function, just find the one that fits your visual and price tastes.
A lot of people get hung up on brands around here (not saying I mean you)

Pretty much, stainless pipe is stainless pipe, some might be thicker or thinner pipe but who cares? They all bend in the same places because there's really only one way to bend it, the way GM designed theirs to fit. One thing that will differ is if you get an oiled filter or a conventional one, the jury is out on that yet as to which is better, I haven't been using my oiled one long enough to tell you how they hold up.
There might be a few diameters of pipe too, so you could get a bigger pipe for more air flow.
It's mostly brand name markup IMO
You could just buy the loose pipes and weld them together, probably be the cheapest; The bitch part would be where the pipe gets crushed to make a 90* bend downward right by the headlight.
