Wow
Go to www.crateenginedepot.com and click on cobalt performance parts. You can get the kit fro about 625.
So with a 2.85 pulley what gains will i see (whp, wtq) and will i need to have it tuned.
Will there be any problems with my 42lbs injectors with added boost?
sorry about all the questions...New to tuning game.

Cheers

How did you pay for this pulley. I have never used e-bay or paypal. I just set up accounts for both but not sure on the process to pay nate.
thanks

just out of curiosity how much is the average price everyone is paying for The GM Stage 2 Kit because up here i went to like 6 dealerships and none of them have ever done it yet and they all give me estimated prices so i know when they start to work on it they can up the price hella if they wanted too.
But they are all telling me that i need $800 for the Stage 2 Parts and about $700 in labor
they get the price by how long it takes to do each thing like it takes 1 hour to change pully
and 1 hour and a half to do the injectors and 1 45 to do a calibration and a ecu reflash and what not and that seems kinda high for a 41 HP Gain i mean i can void the warrenty and get 300 HP for less than that

800 for the parts is $50 over list, I wouldnt ever show my face in that dealer again for how much they want to rip you a new one.
You would want your engine tuned anyways, because if you are running the GM stage2 tune, then you are running on a crappy tune. I have retuned many Stage2's. One went from a Consistant 14.20 sec 1/4 mile all the way down to a 13.80. The Stage 2 tune is limiting still that's why they came out with stage 3 basically.
Kaisoboy, my boost seems to be between 17 to 18 psi depending on weather. I'm still on the 42 lb injectors with colder plugs. I don't see any problems of leaning the motor out. Also, take into consideration that I live in the deep south and engine's seem to be able to take more on the lean side due to the climate. I used paypal. Nate set me up with this. Don't really know how much in the power levels, but there is a "seat of the pants" difference in the pull at higher rpm's. Give it a shot.
There are a few other differences, and some of you may disagree with my opinions, but I have successfully tuned the Fastest Cobalts in my State. And AZ is a hard place to get good track times at, despite having National Facilities here. The heat is outrageous in the summer. Most of the time we race in 103* weather at 10pm.
The GM stage 2 tune has a few problems. It knocks like a POS, which pulls your timing. It leaves a couple hundred RPM's unuseable. It is not tuned for intakes if you have one. The AFR under Power Enrichment is lean under most conditions. It does not take into account varying Octane levels for Premium fuel throughout the country (Hence the cause of more knock). The Cranking VE and MAF are not calibrated to the <3.0" pulleys. Most of the time you are running around with only 90% max boost. It does nothing for the fans to help combat engine compartment heat. You have to wait for a good PE until ~4000 RPMs, when the smaller pulleys can throw up 15PSI well below that, making the Lower RPMs lean and resulting in less Torque under WOT.

Highs during the day were around 115-118.
Read 'em and Weep! Here is my Gauge Cluster from a run at about 10:30pm in the end of May 2006. Sorry for the blurry image it was hard to take a picture with my phone while getting ready to shift to 5th.
Thanks for all the info Nate, Buck and Psykostevo.
I purchased the 2.85" today. Once I get it I will get a retune. Is the stage 3 tune a good tune and can you get the dealer to reflash or is it better to get a tuner shop to do it.
