XTC and ease of covering it up
XTC and ease of covering it up
Hey all,
I was reading about the XTC intake and I like the fact I can put the box back on to cover up the filter. I live in florida and flooding is not uncommon. My question is, those of you that have it, how much work is involved with putting the airbox back on? I'm assuming you must take the wheel off and fender lining?
THanks for your help!

Does anyone have pictures of the stock airbox?
If closing it back up doesn't make a difference, whats the benefit of the XTC over say the Injen? And does that hydrosheild that Injen sells do anything?

I have the XTC intake. To go back to stock you need to remove the bigger filter, put the stock filter back in, then put the bottom back on. Kinda a pain in the ****, min 30 min job. I posted a thread when I installed mine, basically same thing in reverse
i'm just worried bout downpours and sucking in too much water. I was thinking keep it covered up until its time to use it.
Has anyone used that splash sheild thing that Injen sells, its like a big condom for your air filter.

seeing how theres atleast 2 of us michigan guys saying dont worry about it, i wouldnt worry too much, i plan on driving with mine on through the winter, but if your house floods and its high enough to touch the intake you shouldnt be driving, and even the stock box wont help, do you plan on turning the car into a boat? but i guess i cant see why your worried when the filter is over 12 inches from the ground, and if there is over 12 inches of standing water, i personaly wouldnt be driving. and im from michigan!! we driver through blizards that you cant see 3 inches infront of your face and its 30 below. but if the snow is so deep the car wont move we know better than to try to drive a little car through it. just put the filter on that comes with it, make sure its bolted in right and enjoy the intake!! i know i do
Haha, thanks guys. I'm not really worried about submerged filters, I'm more worried bout going through puddles and having it sucked in that way.
My main paranoia stems from the fact my old GTi was very modded and everything I did seemed to have some drawback and once you add all those drawbacks together, it was no longer a fun car. I want to make sure that if I put this intake on, I'm not going to worry about it everytime it rains.
