ZZP 3" Intake?

Can anyone comment on the ZZP 3" CAI? I have tried a multitude of different search phrases to try and locate any threads about it with relatively no luck(yes I have read the thread about it in the zzp vendor forum, but it's just a big flame war in there).

Anyways, I am looking at replacing the Injen since it has a hole in it from rubbing, and I have a credit at ZZP. Does anyone here have this intake who might have had the Injen before and would like to comment?

didnt even know they had one. must be a new item...which would explain a lack of reviews

I don't understand, on the site it says it's been out since: (New - 10/17/2008)

Looking at the pictures, the quality looks pretty nice, but I was wondering if any owners would like to comment on the actual craftsmanship.

I bought the zzp 3' cai about 2 months ago powdercoated black and I must say I couldn't be happier with the quality. The fitment was good, I wouldn't say perfect but very good. The k&n filter they use is pretty big and they have it perfectly placed in the wheel well to not touch anything. I would highly recommend this cai especially for the price.

How would you compare it to the RAW 3" intake?

Id have to say the RAW 3" is a very nice piece of work. I mean all stainless 3" it was fairly expensive, when I bought it they were $350. I ended up selling it before I even put it on due to the fact I didnt have the money to buy the bigger TB or the TB spacer that they sell, or maybe it was just the TB that I couldnt afford hell it was over a year ago I cant remember lol. I'll have to get on ZZP's website and check it out.

y are people making intakes out of stainless? they have to know stainless retains heat 3x more than normal steel, and even more than aluminum...u want something that can easily disipate heat...intakes should never be made out of any kind of steel, will retain way to much heat

Yea I was going to say (#1 reason to get a stainless), and also even though it retains heat longer, it also takes longer for it to heat up as well which can be a good thing.

The air is being pulled from the fenderwell anyway so i can't imagine it would take but a spilt second for that air to be takin in as a charge.

And the portion of the engine bay it's passing through is probably the section that is the coolest anyways.

Intakes that rub are designed poorly. The ZZP unit will never rub or wear through.

My zzp intake rubs bad. had to ziptip a coupling to the intake so it wouldnt rub. but love the intake.

The ZZP intake is bolted to the vehicle in a way that doesn't allow it to rub like the injen. Please email customer service with your order number and possibly pics and we'll see if you installed it wrong or got a part without mounting tabs. No way anything should be close to rubbing.

This thread is full of fail already. Wait for reviews of both. Obviously some companies think it's impossible to make a defective part.

I.E. it's your fault that the part fails.

Log into your online account, it will have your order history with order numbers. Or send an email to customer service and they'll look it up by your name.

...you're special
if you actually read, zoomer is clearly stating that they should email them if they got a defective piece (IE he's not ruling it out as a possibility...)
