ZZP Adjustable Tensioner question
Hey I have a quick question, my stage 2 belt on my 06 SS/SC broke so for the moment I put back on the stock one, and of course it squeals like a pig, but anyways I was wondering if I order the ZZP adjustable tensioner if I will still have to get another stage 2 belt or if it will take out the slack in the stock one enough to stop the squeal and work correctly?

It depends on ur pulley i run a stage 2 belt n adjustible tensioner on a 2.7 pulley but im not using the tensioner set on its max setting so yeah the tensioner alone should be fine unless urs running a retarded small pulley like a 2.5.

Zzp makes so good products but I would not buy the adjustable tensioner. The adjustable tensioner is really difficult to depress. There is no way to depress the pulley unless you use a pry bar. I would stick with the stage 2 belt or stock belt with larger tensioner pulley. Hopefully someone from ZZP will chime in on the adjustable tensioner issue.

Yes u can depress the tensioner iv done it serval times working on my car, its no harder then te stock style tensioner

ok thanks, i have a 3.0" pulley for now so hopefully it will work. I believe my stock tensioner is going bad as it is making alot of noise so i plan to replace the entire thing with the zzp one, i have there stage 2 kit and there products seem to be very good quality.

You will need to reuse the stock pulley and bearing. If its noise its probably the bearing unless its a squeal like belt slip then its the tensioner shock (dont know correct name) itself.
|
Reading your original post it sounds like belt slip. Seeing your running a 3.0 you should use the first hole to the top on the tesnioner if you do get it.

the boss on the stock tensioner is garbage. it is a rounded cast peice and a wrench just slips right off it. I weigh 170lbs, and I have to stand on the pulley with 1 foot and push against my garage ceiling to depress the stock tensioner. I'm eventually going with the ZZP tensioner without a doubt.
