ZZP intercooler pump?

I have had suspiscions that my intercooler pump may be on its way out, since some days I'd check and see the coolant sloshing from side to side in the filler necks and other days the cololant sat with no movement at all. Usually my IAT2s were 30 degrees over IAT1, so I figured that was normal on all stock cooling system. But after letting the car sit running at idle for about 5 minutes after driving it, IAT2s were at 158 when I came back and there no movement of coolant in the neck. Looks like it is time for a new pump. I guess 40K miles is the average life of these things.

I checked with the dealer first for the hell of it, since I can get discounts on parts. With a discount it's going to cost over $300 from them. No way in hell. Then I seen that ZZP sells their intercooler pump for $99. OK, $200 cheaper that the OEM part so what gives? I was trying to figure out if it is an actual Bosch pump, or some cheap Chinese pump. The desciption on their site is kind of vague in saying what brand their pump actually is.

The stock coolant pump for the liquid to air intercooler system is made by Bosch. ZZPerformance set out to collect some quick technical information on how this pump behaves in a real world environment. Here is what we came up with:

All things considered this pump outperforms anything we have ever used or tested. ZZPerformance has tested pumps from Rule, Flojet, Centri-puppy, Jabsco, Shurflo, Central machinery, Meziere, GM, JC whitney, Johnson, Attwood and others.
GM? So ZZP claims thier pump outperforms the stock Bosch?

Can any of you all that have bought ZZPs pump tell me if it is the exact same as the factory Bosch pump, or is it another brand? How is the quality? Any problems with it not lasting long?

Its not really imporatant, but I know that Bosch makes the factory pump so it is somewhat decent quality. I just didn't want some cheap pump that will have to replace a year from now. For $99 that is not bad at all for a Bosch pump, guess I will be ordering it from them.

Still makes me wonder how ZZP figures their pump is beter than the factory one, even though its a Bosch pump. I don't know what the factory pump flow rate is, but ZZP list theirs at 4.5 GPM. Higher flow rate possibly?

I swore I ordered one from zzp last year around this time and it was bosch. Honestly there are threads on this and the bosch performs perfect for any build on this car. If you ever need more than what the bosch can do its time to think about meth injection or the new intake spacer(can't think of the name)

target flow rate is 5 gph and ZZP sell the correct pump at a good price. Yates motorsport is cheaper by 5 bux but does not support this forum. Mercedes sell the same pump for a 1000 dollars.

Do you happen to know what the factory installed pump flow rate is? ZZP says their pump is 4.5. Just wondering, I can't imagine there being much of a noticable difference between 4.5 and 5 gph

Just buy zzp, put it on, and be happy that it's working. It's a bosch and it's factory.

I take it that you didn't pay attention to what I quoted from ZZPs site? The description kinda makes it seem like they are claiming to sell a better pump than the OEM GM (Bosch) pump. Plus the fact that it is over $200 cheaper than the origianl made it seem questionable

That zzp description had me confused too. Perhaps they said that they tested different pumps and none did as well as the bosch so they are using that one.

Dont get discouraged by the price... Gm wanted to charge me like 220 or something for the stock ac delco throttle body... Found it brand new online.multiple times for like 45.

GM target flow is 5 gph. the Pump is good for more than that by itself. But with restrictions etc, 5.0 is the good number. I got 5 gph on my aftercooler set up. I llke it. the Bosch pump is good. Sharkey on here (is he still on?) runs a meziere. he likes it.
i dont.

Well since the car is sitting for now, I guess I might as well take this as an opportunity to put in the dual pass and option b while I am at it.

I though that you all ran a Meziere pump on the Time Attack car?

john do you mean 5gpm? seeing as 5gph is what some people run as a meth nozzle.. if 5gph supports a cooling system i would think it would just drown the engine in methanol. 5gpm would be 300gph, which would make more sense. unless i'm totally over estimating what the coolant flow needs.
