ZZP PCM q's for anyone who has it specifically or who knows tuning in general...
I have 60 pnd/ hr. injectors and I was going to get a custom tune for $350 but I can't really afford it now and I'm dying to put these #60's in so I figured I'd purchase the ZZP PCM for now til' I have money to get the tune in a few months (since its only $150 if you send your PCM ahead of time)...I just have a few questions for anyone who has the ZZP PCM.....For me personally, I have bought numerous things from ZZP and have gotten them quickly and have always been satisfied, but a potentially dangerous decision like a PCM that can run lean just has me "iffy" on whether I should buy it.......
Would it be safe (as far as A/F ratio wise) to run their PCM in my car for a few months without having someone else go back and tweek their tune. I'm currently running a 2.85" but was looking to run a 2.7" here soon....
So first, 2.85", 60's, zzp pcm; safe?
Second, 2.7", 60's, zzp pcm, safe?
Has anyone ran lean on their PCM?
Also, I constantly get a misfire code resulting in a CEL (and it was a real pain when I was trying to do my inspection the other day, had to clear the CEL and drive for almost 2 hours to reset my I/M info.), so could I ask them to remove the P0300 from the PCM so that I don't get the CEL anymore?
Also, another useful piece of info. would be that I run an Injen intake...will that really throw off MAF readings (the MAF seems to have stayed in the stock location for the most part, so I'm guessing the readings would be correct)

no I can't afford my local tuner who happens to be very good...Ryan's Performance Machines....he's a local GM tuner that holds the record for quickest TBSS 1/4 mile, etc....anyways, I'm worried about being impatient by wanting the 60's in now, getting the ZZP PCM, running lean, and blowing my motor.......
What you want to do doesn't make sense. Just wait until you get enough money so you do it right. Why end up spend more money in the long run since you said yourself that you are going to get a tune? Patients is a virtue!
lol, that's what I'm afraid of...I just want the damn 60's in though and due to a recent ticket and my purchase of Recaros its looking to be way longer than I expected before I can afford a custom tune....so I figured if I get the ZZP PCM now I can have my 60's...and when they go to tune it 3 or some odd months down the road it'll be easier for them to work off of......Anyone have the ZZP that wants to respond? I appreciate all responses just looking for one that actually talks about the ZZP and how it is....I know I'd be taking a risk on it running lean like other mailorder tunes, thats why I'm asking trying to find out beforehand if anyone has ran it succesfully without problems......
.... here is what I'm doing.
I have a spare intense stage ECU tuned for 60's. I bought it cause it was cheap... kind of like you.
From the map's I've seen on them, you can probably run a 2.8 safely on the canned tunes.... just don't go bagging on the car.
Now, I noticed later, that the fact that I have a 'half-tuned' ECU, is making it easier for me to fully tune later on down the road. (Although, I'm tuning my own car... not someone else.)
So really, use your discretion. If you really can't wait, go hard, but be careful.

There are a lot of what if's in your idea. I know how you feel with wanting to put parts on your car cause I have a ZZP header/dp that I could put on my car but I am waiting until it is warmer. Your situation is a lot different then mine but if I were you I would wait so that the tune is made just for my car to take full advantage of the rest of my mods. You will thank yourself later for waiting.
