with a good driver I think that's very believable. I know how that goes though, the first time I beat a Redline nobody believed it, till he posted about it too haha

this weekend eh? let me know how it goes, I'm still debating on picking up one instead of my original plan with the 2.0 manifold. then I just need to sim the rear o2 and upgrade the downpipe size and diameter

yeah thats bullshit, i have heard of stocks and close to stocks running under 16's. its more the "assumption" because everyone talks about how light the jbodies are in comparison...my car is 100lb heavier than an 05 cavalier!

people are just jealous because they cant get that time.

yeah I ended up getting one from Turbo Tech for $183 shipped, the armor coated one...so I think its worth it to give it a try. Plus i don't believe all that BS about it not fitting correctly and having to make all those modifications, so I'm gonna see for myself.

in another post on here someone stated that the downpipe from header to before cat is 2.5" and after cat and before the exhaust is 2.25". if thats true, you don't need a larger downpipe

anyway thats BS roccityroller, I don't see whats so hard to believe about a 2.2 in the 15's
Some guys on here are just so convinced that we drive high 17 sec. cars.

pretty much. a well deisnged 4-1 would be great too with a decent collector design, but I don't know how long that will be unless I just build one, as i"m anticipating

that's where I was looking at getting one from. as far as fitment, I"ll put it to you this way: that one blue ion sedan who put his on a long while back lives in daytona, good buddy of mine, and had none of those issues. you just need to have a general idea of what the hell you're doing is how it looks.

the downpipe might be that diameter for the cobalts, maybe even the 05-06 ions, but not for mine. I've been under her enough and had the downpipe off enough to be able to tell, it's a little bit smaller than 2 1/4 I think right now.

My exhaust measurements are still accurate, and honestly, i was kinda surprised my 5spd sedan hit a 15.8, so these cars definitely have potential, its just the driver IMO. Im kinda curious what a supercharger on the 2.2L's will do with better tires, albeit close to the SS/SC !?

Exclamation

As I have posted in another thread about a direct bolt in replacement hi-flow cat from Random Technology, I took pictures and used a vernier caliper to measure the pipe diameters of the pipe on th factory cat. Up top going into the cat it is close to 2.25" and coming out it is just a 2". This is very restrictive. I am encouraging RT to go to market with a direct bolt in hi-flow cat that is 2.5" all the way through so that we can get a header with 2.5" collector, 2.5" cat and 2.5" cat back. Just thought I would pass this along. BTW, the thread is titled 2.0, 2.2 & 2.4 High Flow Catalytic Converter. Here's the link: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/general-cobalt-68/2-0-2-2-2-4-high-flow-catalytic-converter-16263/.

^^^ Scott that's closer to what I have found on mine.

while I'm probably removing the cat completely, good luck with that suggestion for RT, a lot of people would benefit from that.

I ran a 16.7 @81mph bone stock but w/o an air filter and pass seat, spare, or trunk material. And HELL YEA the tires spin on an auto 2.2, lol. I have one and I launch it with a power brake/ e-brake combo to turn off the T/C and manage to get awesome reaction times when I can control the spin. I found out you lose top end speed with less tire pressure on a stock 2.2. Just run between 26-28, no less than those and you get your grip on stock tires without losing too much top speed.

im gonna borrow my buddys wheels one night to see if that makes a difference, hes got a 91 civic hatch with 99 SI wheels and Nitto Neo-Gen tires, lol His car hauls ass with just the B16 swap, and when he got new tires he wnet from a 15.3 to 15.0 I just wanna see if the traction makes a big difference with the Cobalt as it did with his civic. Its sacreligious i know to have civic wheels on a Cobalt, but its for experimental purposes, lol

I'm scared to run a 1/4 mile. I finish an 1/8th at 8.3 @ 86mph. I use N20, and if I shoot at 108, bad news. I use a 75 N20 shot with a 55 gas shot. With the 75 gas shot, the stock timing, causes it to run ritch and I only gain 25whp instead of 72 with the 55 gas shot. If I use 55 and 55 shot I have 200whp. With 65 and 55 shot I have 212whp. With 75 and 55 shot - 222whp. If I could run a 1/4 without the fear of limiter, (everyone hate here and ignore the fact that 8.3 + 5.5 = 13.8) I would guess 13.6-14.3.
