damn man I guess it happens

1st we get used to the car so I already feel a lack of performance and mine is a week old lol

2nd with mileage you lose power not a carzy number of HP loss but some

my old ION i got in 04 kicked ass I was extremely happy with it I ran a 16.3 brand new on the 1/4mile and ran a 17.5 2 yrs later with the AEM cold air I could not figure it out and it was around the same time of the yr

so power loss I guess will happen I dunno

The only reason why you would lose power is because something is wrong, or you're not keeping up with maintenance. There should be no reason in loss of power if everthing is kept up correctly. If anything, there should be a GAIN in power throughout the break in period. Not much, but some within' the first few thousand miles because the parts in the motor will get seated and honed to the motor.

Exactly, his comment was uncalled for. Not to mention it had nothing to do with the topic.
A speed limiter has nothing to do with power loss. It governs your top speed. Not power.

I was under the impression that cars actually got quicker with more mileage up to a certain point. A lot of long-term test in car mags have quicker acceleration numbers at 30k or 40k miles than when the car was new.

I've got almost 70,000 clicks on my car and it's faster now then the day I bought it!

I've kept up with mantenance using only synthetic oil and K&N Drop in filter and I've never noticed a powerloss.

Infact since my exhaust coversion I've picked up power. There must be something wrong with your car, or you got a dud.

It's alright, has nothing to do with the topic is all he said. And all his will do better than ours is let him blow it up when he misses a shift.

follow the monitor, change it at about 10-20% left... but check the oil every now and then to make sure it looks clean and that the level is not lower than it should be... my car definately got faster after a few thousand miles, so i'm not sure what happened to yours...

I also think the car gets faster with the more miles you put on it. I have a little over 7k on mine now and it seems a bit faster than when i first got it. Also GM told me that the engine doesnt truely start to break-in until around 10k. They recommended that once I reached this point to also use synthetic oil which would help with both performance and mpg

could it just be the ECU pulling timing over a period of time for some reason? same reason why you feel a nice jump in power after resetting the ECU

I would service the filter and change out the plugs... sounds to me like a minor thing that has you spooked. if you have access to the tool, do a compression test... but this really just sounds like it needs some love.

disconnect the neg. side of the battery then reconnect

I'm sure there is a fuse you can remove to do the same without resetting everything but I'm not sure.

i disagree with the comment about following the gm engine life monitor, i say go to the dealership every 5000 km. there are other maintenance items besides the oil as well.

for your airbox mod, make sure your air filter is clean and oiled, then check the maf sensor to make sure its clean.

thats all i got, dont have much more info at the moment.
