2.2L intake

so i am custom doing my intake and so far i have found the filter and the mass air flow sensor piece. all i need is to drop that huge black plastic piece that connects to the throttle body (i think its a silencer and vacuum tube). does anyone know where i can find pieces to complete this or how i can get rid of this hunk of plastic.

pep boys or auto zone has some generic intake piping, someone here used some type of flex tubbing and duct tape, but it looked like ass.

My honest advice is to just buy one. The MAF mount will make doing a home-built tricky. But yes, most auto parts stores sell modular systems.

he did something like I did on my truck, look at where the MAF is, use a rubber coupling and cut out a small rectangle for the MAF, a hair smaller than the MAF so that you have to jam it in keeping it air-tight! works fine, I had my truck like that for 10,000 miles before I traded it in.......it had the same MAF Bosch style.

OH and just use some small sheet-metal screws to screw it in and hold it down.

thanks Jn2, so it looks like a 90 degree elbow will fit. and is it a 2.5 inch opening. also i see a breather on the vacuum tube which i feel will be fine.

and for those of you who wonder how the maf is set up. i went to an auto parts store and through spectre performance they got me the exact maf sensor pipe. it was like $45 and it is polished aluminum. so i think i just need some couplers clips and a 90 degree elbow and like a 6inch pipe. cool thanks a lot, jbark

with your MAF being located right after a sharp bend, the air going over it must be pretty turbulent, which with give you inaccurate MAF readings. If you could relocate it further down, closer to the throttle body, your car would probably run better and throw fewer CELs.
