2.2L ZZP SC Questions

So I am planning on buying this kit in a month hopefully sooner. Other than the kit itself and a tune what else is needed to make sure everything runs great?

My first question. It says premium gas is required, what octane would you recommend? Also more of like a general car question but, I run 89 octane now (I think lol) and how should I go about using 91/93 octane whichever is better? Would I need to flush the entire system? Or is it safe to just add in the higher octane with the lower octane in still?

Which gauges are most helpful? Other than boost guage, which others would you reccomend?


Also, if you guys have any info you want to add, please do. Every bit of info helps.

run your tank down as low as possible and fill up with 93 if you have that near you before you do the install. get a wideband its a must have gauge not to sure on brand since i dont have one yet but ya youll need it so you know how lean or rich youre running

I would go with the AEM UEGO wideband for about $200. It's what I will be running...I plan to purchase this kit down the road towards the end of the year. I will also be getting a boost gauge and running the ZZP sedan dual gauage a-pillar pod.

So you really don't need much else...the kit, at least a wideband o2, a tune, and exhaust is a good idea as well.

I'd say to run the tank as low as possible as stated above, then just run 1 or 2 tanks of 91/93 before you install the SC setup and you'll be just fine. If there's a little 89 left it won't hurt, but you don't want to be running full on 89 when you go boosted.

I already have an exhaust so that wont be needed. 200$ for a gauge, jesus christ lol. Is it needed if trifecta is doing the tuning? I might have to get a mechanical boost guage then to save some money haha.

dont go cheap if youre gonna boost your car. and yes you need it i dont think you can see your afr's with trifecta cause youre just uploading a tune to your pcm. i may be wrong though i dont know too much about trifecfta. either way like i said dont go cheap man cause youll end up spending more in the long run.

Yeah I know what you mean. Better to do it right the first time. Anything else I should be aware of?

AT FTW w/ ZZP SC setup...that's what I'm doing. I will be adding a tranny cooler down the road long before I go SC....just as peace of mind. Want to get other things out of the way first though.

Ill probably be sticking with stock dp and header but they will probably get replaced later down the road. I have the funds for the kit but I cant really afford to be buying bolt ons to.

It probably would be a good idea to make sure you get a header/DP combo that will flow for the SC better....you have a REALLY restricted system with the stock exh. mani./dp. I'm not saying you will have problems, but I would think you might run into some while running the stock setup...even just upgrading to the LSJ DP will help a lot if you want to keep the stock exh. manifold.

So your saying fuel filters are good for the life of the car? Id say its in his best interest to change it out if its never been changed before. Its the most common thing everyone never changes, its kinda a big deal we dont have a recirculating fuel system so any restriction is a big deal.

I did mine around 30-32k miles...they're quite simple...not too pricey either. Just a good idea to have done every 30k to 45k given certain factors...I probably could have waited until about 40k to do mine as it wasn't too bad.

Well alright then I will probably get a lsj header/dp, but does anyone know if it will the lsj header bolts up to a 2.25 in tsudo n1 catback?

Have someone local that is selling headers and dp to me.

Also yeah I should change my fuel filter since I have 50k miles and it should have probably already been changed by now. Plus the fuel filter is only like 18$ at autozone.
