2.4 intake manifold swap

does the 2.4 manifold swap show a big improvement? or is it just blowing $200 for a slight gain?

Cobalt_Kid Oct 28, 2008 09:37 PM

into? the 2.2?

nikebaseballx00 Oct 28, 2008 09:38 PM

bump, how can i get this to work on a 2008 WITHOUT SAI

bryce712 Oct 28, 2008 09:39 PM

it has good gains without a tune imo. but with a tune it will be a lot better obv. but its not a total waste if your trying to get some decent power for cheap. it pulls a lot harder past 4000 then the regular manifold

well.. in your perspective, should i get the 2.4 manifold swap or get a lowering kit? both are about the same amount.

XM15 Oct 28, 2008 09:45 PM

You will definately see an increase in power. It will shift the power band up a bit, but most people don't seem to mind that.

You can make your own manifold "kit" by buying all the parts separately. Its alot cheaper that way. I believe it is in the neighborhood of $150.

scotch89 Oct 28, 2008 09:47 PM

i have that swap on my 2.2 i would rather get the lowering kit if i could go back. and i also had a tune done to my car lil inprovment but lil

bryce712 Oct 28, 2008 10:55 PM

its preference really. want a little more power go with the manifold. want some show and a little performance lower the car

2006RedCobaltSS Oct 28, 2008 11:26 PM

alright, so i've decided to order the parts for the manifold. i have on my list to order as follows:
2.4 manifold
PVC seal
TB Seal
extended brake hose

do i need the adapter plate and seal for my 2007 cobalt?
or will it bolt on directly without it?

bryce712 Oct 29, 2008 12:46 AM

im not sure i havent looked at the directions in awhile you talking bout for the throttle body ?

Sentry Oct 29, 2008 03:30 AM

This is the best mod you can do for your car for the price. Get an exhaust and intake and complete the package. Or, lowering is always fun and just about never lets you down.

Just don't expect a world of difference. But, I'd say the only other cheap mod better than this is no2.

MadBrad Oct 29, 2008 10:36 AM

Will somebody just make a sticky on this topic already.

nikebaseballx00 Oct 29, 2008 01:42 PM

i still need info about an 08 2.2 without sai

im looking at this, cai, and full exhaust (header/dp/catback)

KyleMinnis Oct 29, 2008 01:43 PM

i could have sworn we alrady talked about this a little while back...

nikebaseballx00 Oct 29, 2008 01:47 PM

probably, i just miss a lot of discussion cuz i dont have access to a computer til 7th hour and then home after that

KyleMinnis Oct 29, 2008 01:52 PM

oh...okay

nikebaseballx00 Oct 29, 2008 03:12 PM

yea.... so can it be done?

hugemurph4 Oct 29, 2008 03:23 PM

get the manifold then the springs to be honest the manifold i felt was the most noticable add on i have gotten so far its easy to put in to. it was worth it for me

brandon2.2 Oct 29, 2008 04:31 PM

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/parts-66/wts-sale-l%40%40k-138608/

this guy has one for sale

Nato09 Oct 29, 2008 05:35 PM

do i need the adapter plate to install the 2.4 mani on my 07 cobalt?

brandon2.2 Oct 29, 2008 05:56 PM

not sure myself, havnt looked into, someone will chime in and hook you up with the answer

Maven Oct 29, 2008 07:04 PM

Yes it can be put on a car with SAIR, the intake manifold has nothing to do with the SAIR system.https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/2-4-intake-manifold-install-2008-2-2-a-135051/ <<<<<<<<My 2008 w/SAIR

2007 you dont need the adpater.

the part numbers are around here somewhere. If everyone else is lazy maybe Ill look them up later.

I too am getting tired of seeing so many threads regarding this mod. Please just use search a little bit guys....Weve been over all of this at least a dozen times and there are at least 2 how-tos.

tru2nrtt777 Oct 29, 2008 07:08 PM

and Facelesskaos made a parts list to get all the parts for cheap.

Maven Oct 29, 2008 07:11 PM

I posted them as well. The CED kit is a waste of money if youve got an 07/08 (and 05/06 if you really get down to it :) )
