2 Exhaust Questions

Hello Guys/Girls. I have two questions about exhaust on the 07 cobalt ls. here it goes, 1.) Will it hurt my car to run straight pipe for a while??? Because it sounds amazing without the resonator. 2.) How does the MEGAN catback exhaust system for the 07 ls sound on the cobalt???

help is greatly appriciated thanks
mike

No and good...

Define straight pipe. You didnt mention muffler or cat.

I have the pacesetter on my 07 and when i removed my exhaust i never had a resonator :S but unless your running turbo a stright pipe is not the way to go.

Thats gona be frkn' loud, don't be suprised if you get a ticket for exhaust that too loud. And if you do any highway driving, it will get very annoying...

not to mention the fact you will probably have a loss in low and midrange power running the straight pipe.

its realy nice like no lie. its nice and deep not raspy at all. and on the down shifts and what not it gurgles and pops sound so nice. but its also not too loud if you have the stock header/downpipe. if your on the edge of buying one DO IT best 300 ish ive ever spent.

ill try to see if i can get a sound clip of the exhaust up.

ok well i bought it like a month ago and worked on it everydayand it had a bad MAF and replaced that and it has not been run in like 4 months and am not sure whats involed in getting it to run right, the battery is bad, when it starts it will run for a minute but smokes like no other but wont run for any longer then a minute then shuts down but when it does it runs smooth as i dont know what. i checked for water in the oil like a blown headgasket but no water. broken water line i have to take the intake mani. off to get to the blown line. if i fix that and it willk hold antifreeze or unless you want to do it its up to you. but it sounds like the water pump seal or just a bad line for the coolant spilling everywhere but it needs a new battery and tire, it has the sohc KA24E motor. i bought it for 500 not knowing what to do but i dont really have time for it sadly i really want a drift 240 but i dont have the time or money to do it since i had to go back to school for my senior year

If it runs good when cold but ***** out after a few minutes(warm up) it most likely is your culpret, you will be running way too rich and flooding at normal operating temp. When you are cold starting the cts tells your pcm/ecm/ecu/whateverthefuckyouwannacallit it is cold so it adds fuel for better start up, idol, and to warm the car.

ok because once it runs for like 45 seconds it will start to shut down and then wont run again after that so...

Sounds like either you sensor is bad or the wiring is. One way to test the sensor is to find out what resistance it should have to start going into open loop and run it till it shuts down, then mesure the resistance at the back of the sensor with a multimeter.
