2008 2.2 questions

Hey everyone about 2 weeks ago I got a 2008 cobalt 2.2 special edition 2dr coup I love it!!
I wish it was the SS but I couldnt find one for sale near me =[
but iam really happy with the car.
I have a few questions about the car, like why dose the car only rev up to 4 grand in park and neutral and if it can be adjusted. also I want to do some performance upgrades but dont know where to start

this has been asked many times. there's no reason to rev over 4k in neutral. it's a saftey feature so people don't try to be "cool" and blow up their car.

as far as performance you can start with all the basic bolt ons; full exhaust, intake, can do suspension, etc.

First off, since its an auto why do you need to rev it? answer me that.

Start simple, like Air Box mod or a CAI, then exhaust, header, DP, possibly cams, or a 50 shot of the good juice.

not necesarily. you can go with any exhaust, it's all a matter of preference and what you can afford. ONE person gained 12 hp using the gmpp catback exhaust, so now everyone says it gains 12 hp, but it's most likely not what you will see. they pretty much all do the same thing. search for some sound clips and see what you like.

First off, welcome to the site!

Like was mentioned before, basic bolt ons would be a good start. Above all, try to do as much research as you can before buying stuff. The search button is your friend for that.

Welcome to the site! And like everyone else said, the basic bolt ons will be you best bet for starting mods.

i wish i never started modding, ive spent well over 50k in mods alone, then ontop of that i spent 33k for the car, but it does give you a nice feeling being 18 and knowing you can spank 90% of the cars on the street.
spent about 6k on the cobalt, mostly in electronics and interior.
once you get the mod bug dont plan on having a girlfriend for a while, cause you will spend all time and money on the car, unless you get a girlfriend like mine who loves to buy miss susie-roo mods, lol

I've only spent about 2300 so far but only in speakers, wires, amps, the box, tint and cleaning supplies lol after xmas i plan on doing the intake and full exhaust. I also want to do the black out tail lights, the halo headlights, lowering springs black rims with a chrome lip 17"s or 18"s not sure yet, i also want to get a full ss body kit with the ss wing and the SS Recaro racing seats. I want to Boost the motor and build the motor . It will take some time but thats what i wanna do also i want to take off the racing strips and have black ones put on

nitrous or turbo is the only hope for the 2.2

anything else is a waste.

at 36,000 miles i will probably make my own turbo kit. i had it on the lift yesterday, and it looks fairly simple.

i wouldn't waste the time or money on a supercharger on a 2.2

n/a is not even worth looking at on a 4 cyl.
