2008 LE5 manifold revisited.

Ok im starting a new thread because the other ones are kind of old and lifeless. I know...the 2007 is the one to get...but If i got a 2008 one for FREE, is it completely worthless? Will it add any HP if I put it on? Im just saying....dude...its free....if it is worth 3HP its worth it for free....Anyone done it?

The real question we haven't gotten an answer on is why did GM replace the 06-07 mani on the 2.4L?

Was it a cost savings? -- The 08 is a lot cheaper to buy (and produce)
Was it because of higher 08 emissions requirements?
Was it better on factory evaluations then the earlier version?

well lets find a stock 08 2.4 that's dyno'd.

that way we can clear up how much less power the 08's have due to the changes.

Dunkinuts has an 08 that dyno'd 159whp 156wtq (stock, Dynojet)

Zdeuce4 156 whp, 154 wtq Verified STOCK i'm pretty sure he's pre-08.

The 08's are a little more powerful, more so at the low end.

Unless you dyno two different cars on the same dyno with the same air temp, the same baro pressure, and the same humidity...dyno numbers are useless...

red07, my point was that they are give or take within 5hp of each other. aka, difference is as unnoticeable as an 06 vs an 07 ls

Anyone have a STOCK 2.2 L61 manifold laying around? Post a picture up of the ports with a ruler/tape measure next to the ports and I will do the same for my 2008 2.4 manifold.....we can see if the 08 LE5 manifold is bigger than the 08 L61.

Any Takers? My digital camera is ready...just waiting on a 2.2 owner that has swapped manifolds and has their old one to measure and take pics.

i have a 2.4 manifold that came off an 08 and before we put it on we measured the runners compared to the ones on my 2.2 manifold now i dont remember the measurements but i remember that the runners on the 08 2.4 mani were bigger compared to my 2.2 mani and dont take my word for it but i think that the only difference between the 06-07 and the 08 2.4 manifolds is the shape
what i do know for sure is that its worth it!

So you put a 2008 2.4 manifold on your car?....the 2-piece glued together one? How was it? I just got mine for free but wont be able to install it for a week.

One more thing baggelis...did you need any other parts besides the manifold and brake booster hose? Did all the stuff bolt up correctly?

Anyone have something like these pics for a 2.2 L61? I don't because mine is still installed on the car. But here is the manifold from the 2008 Pontiac G6 2.4L LE5. It is different than the manifold on my L61 car.

and the last pic has me wondering about the highlighted area...it appears to be a fixed orifice...do I need to do anything with it?

Anyone with a 2.2 L61 manifold laying around want to give up some pics? Get a tape measure/ruler and lets figure out the differences....or just some good detailed pictures anyway.

Thanks for posting the pics. The highlighted area is the PCV orifice -- just make sure the seal is in place like it is. The 06/07 2.4 manifold has a plate/gasket assembly that goes there -- the 2.2 manifold PCV orifice is the same as in your "quoted "picture here.

PRIMO!! Thanks for the help baggelis. I am going to install it april 11th, so I will give everyone a "seat of the pants" review of how the power and torque feels. Sorry but I have no dyno acess.

Thanks to you to Red07SS

I checked, several times actually, but I can't find any good pics with measurements and different angles.
