You will need a new fuel pump, because there's no way you're going to be able to supply 79# injectors on stocker. Stage 2 axles, if you're a manual you'll need a new clutch and a prayer to the divine. All that just to make it a dyno queen, that's not getting power to the ground. After that you need drag bags, slicks, mounts, maybe some brakes.

Just some idea what all you're going to need.

not to mention it wont be street driveable...

can i ask a question? how old are you <-OP

HaHa a 1000whp, doubt it.

06_ion2 04-20-2009 05:12 PM

i have 400whp 2.2 build comming up soon just got to get the parts on the car  well it should be close to it atleast

Auddasea 04-20-2009 09:16 PM

Its 1000whp...I've seen the dyno's on it...
I should get it up here for you guys... Anyways he said it was only pushing about 530 on the street we were on cause he had to use a lower octane gass and the engine was knocking but it still blazed....felt pressure in my ears and my eyes started to water... thing was a monster...said including the car he put over 80k into it

HunterKiller89 04-20-2009 09:21 PM

my reccomendation. Get the garrett turbo kit (the one that does not include a tune), and go to trifecta performance to get a tune there. make sure he limits the peak power to around 220whp (so you dont blow the stock engine). If you still want more after that, swap turbos, and buy pistons and rods and retune. That and an exhaust is all you need for a 400whp build. $3k for turbo kit, $1k for rods/pistons, $275 per tune, unknown cost for upgraded turbo

Im aiming for 400-450whp myself, but ill be taking a somewhat more expensive route

Auddasea 04-20-2009 09:47 PM

^^ What route out of curiousity? lol.... And I dont know if that performance shop is in my area...I live on the west coast?

Nato09 04-20-2009 10:06 PM

1000whp on a 4G63 is not hard.. lots of evos are pushin this. very large turbo, built motor, and tuning..

they will mail you a datalogger and email tunes and logs back and forth. Basically, its like a custom tune via internet

I'm staying supercharged my way. Its a LOT more expensive though

its going to cost way more than that man.. ur looking at just maybe making it over the 350 mark with just pistons and rods.. you need headwork and cams to make more than that..

Auddasea 04-21-2009 12:53 PM

How about an engine swap? I know theres hardly any room under this hood, but any ideas? Can go up to 3200 w/ labor.....

tell that to anyone running the hahn stg5
it will be easier with headword, but its not necessary if you're going the route of turbocharging.

...no. I'm comparing a 2.2 to a 2.0, which has the same valvetrain and less displacement

CharminRican 04-21-2009 09:33 PM

As far as I know with my limited knowledge...

You would need to do EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING to this car. Total internal rebuild, Rods, Pistons, Bored cylinders, comp valves and cams, Big turbo kit with intercooler, Comp exhaust with a tune... maybe change and reprogram the computer... and nos...

Dude its gonna tak ALOT to make this thing happen the way you want but like my friend said... anything is possible as long as you have the $$.

Engine swap? Thats gonna take ALOT of $$ and time and... whoa... Different set up and you will be spending alot of $$ to get what? 200hp fromthe ss/sc?

Kodatech 04-21-2009 09:57 PM

Dude....get serious.

-If you had $6000 cash to spend on your $10000 car, you wouldn't be driving it.

-If $750 a month for the G8 is too heavy, then you CAN NOT afford to build a 400hp 2.2L cobalt.

If you really, REALLY want a 400hp daily driver, you started with the wrong car. Save your money. If you plan on keeping the car for a while, do some things that won't hurt the reliability.

Intake/exhaust/header/downpipe/pullies/PCM tune/engine mounts and have a nice fun car to drive.

How old are you?....seriously?...16?

Sorry to be a dick but this happens ALL THE TIME here....Big pipe dreams and in 6 months the car is stock or close to it...or traded in on an SS.

If you have to finance 10k, you dont have 6k to throw at the car.

yea...you're completely wrong. pistons, rods, large turbo, injectors, return fuel system. Done....

400 whp in a cobalt for the money your paying is a huge waste imo. sell it and get something else if you want to make that kind of power

Yeah, most of the time that's true.

But think of all the imports that buy their cars for < 2000 and invest over 10k.

Just something that's done on a personal basis, but I agree if I had more money I wouldn't have bought a cobalt. I happen to have a better job now and resale value is shit, so here I am.
