40k Miles, what did I miss?

This might sound pretty bad but, I just rolled over to 40,000 miles and the only maintenance or check ups I've had done is what occurs when you get an oil change (27 pt inspection, oil filter, oil change, lube, etc)

The car has become somewhat sluggish feeling, feels like the car loses interest between 2-3k RPM and then picks back up at 3-3.5k RPM.

This is what I have planned for the next few weeks
  1. Replace air filter (purchased an Injen CAI)
  2. Replace Fuel Filter
  3. Oil change (synthetic)

Any other suggestions or things I should have done that I missed over the last 40,000 miles

A fuel injection purge is a great idea, that will make a noticeable difference. I dont recommend the suck through the vacum line type either as that does nothing for the injectors.

A great way to clean the injectors is create a canister with a coolant hose and adapter for your fuel rail on the bottom end and a hole on top. Take your air tools and set your compressor to stock fuel rail pressure(~58psi for us). Have someone start your car and you add pressure to the canister(filled with real injector cleaner). After a couple starts, reconnect your fuel line and start her up. Your injectors will be completely clean. Ill get you the cleaning solution, i cant remember the exact name and its at my shop.

You are referring to seafoam. It will clean up your intake a bit but at 40k, it shouldnt be bad at all.

1) Auto or manual? Would change trans fluid/transaxle fluid. 2) Flush coolant. X3 on fuel system service with fuel filter and TB clean. 4) Replace your cabin air filter. 5) Rotate and balance tires. 6) Just an FYI if you have rear drum brakes look into having them cleaned and adjusted while tires are off.

are you guys seriously talking about seafoaming at 40k? jesus, just replace the air fliter, fuel filter, oil filter/oil, check your coolant to make sure it's not "browning" and be done with it.

I replaced mine at 30,000 Km and it was due
The op's original post says the car has 40,000 miles so I would change it anyways even if it's not the problem
Also consider having the fuel injectors cleaned

I'm coming up on 30k miles and I'm planning to do fuel filter and oil change (to synthetic)...I'll be doing brake pads and rotors also, but that's not mileage related...just had my rotors start to warp and I don't want to have them turned, so I'll just replace with better quality. Never worked on drums before, but I suppose I should check them out as well. Maybe I'll paint the drums and calipers for when I get my wheels as well...I figure I'll make a full day of "TLC" for the car.

Ok I think I can do the throttle body cleaning, fuel filter, intake install, and switch to synthetic.

anyone have suggestions on fuel injector cleaning / seafoaming? GM probably charges out the wazoo huh?

To 007CobaltLS - you can buy my rims

ACDelco or NGK. Just because they can last "up to" 100,000 miles doesnt mean they always do or that changing them isnt cheap piece of mind.

I actually was wondering how often one should change the fuel filter so thank you... I'm at ~50K and still haven't done it. What about the plugs that have 2, 3, or 4 prongs? I heard those are great for power. (Someone claimed +5hp) Would they be worth the money?

On a 2.2L you won't see any difference from plugs in power.

Stick with ACDelco or NGK branded plugs in stock replacement style is your best bet for your average L61
