Because it's not GM's problem to fix?

Then why the **** would you try and get a MAJOR repair done under warranty. That makes NO sense what so ever. "Yup, they done fucked up my oil change, but hopefully they'll rebuild my motor."

Or.....people who have legit warranty claims are sick of having to deal with the fallout from all the people who try and float bogus warranty claims.

good to see the ol' boys club never fails to show up and set the record straight. it's too bad for the boy racer in us that our **** breaks down after a little rough play. oh, well if we wanted to play street racer shoulda got the ss/sc and we'd have better quality cars we wouldn't have need for claims on. gm's quailty has never failed to let me down and i don't mind seeing those guys pay for it every once in a while.

yeah that made about as much **** as it does to teabag gm cause we all own cobalts....well most of us here anyawy. i hope to hell they fix his car on their dime.

I didn't know america died.........

warranty work for techs suck. we hate that ****. repairs paid by the customer is where you make your money, not on warranty work...especially something of that level. EX: if i see a car come in with nitrous installed and it needs a new timing chain tensioner/valve cover gasket, i'm not gonna say **** cause it has nothing to do with the problem. but if i even have the slightest hint that your trying to pull one over on me to get something covered under warranty that you fucked up, you better believe i will be trying to not get it covered under warranty.

on flat rate, lets say for an engine swap you get paid for 8.5 hours if the customer is paying for it. on warranty(depending on manufacturer set times) you might get only 5 hours. *these are just example numbers*

I understand how you feel seeing how I get paid flate rate as well. But sometimes doing a warranty repair will lead to a happy customer with warranty that will return to have you do something you can make good money on. Even if they only come back for warranty work is better than not returning at all. You think if you void their warranty they're going to come back to an overpriced dealership for work, when they can go to a different shop to get it done cheaper. I'm sure GM is paying all the time that estimating companies such as Mitchell and CCC provides.

Well, you may have thrown a piston bearing. I know of a couple of guys that threw a piston bearing and it gave the piston enough slop to hit the spark plug and close up the gap like you say is happening.

Uuummm, actually no, they do NOT pay what the labor time guide calls for, you have 2 labor times, 1 for warranty time and 1 for standard time. We lose on warranty most of the time. It is for this reason that i don't mind seeing gm take it in the ass once in a while since they expect me to everytime i do warranty work. However i still stand behind my original comment, pay to play.
This is not always the reason why the warranty will be voided. If we replace something, especially an engine or major part like that and gm calls the part back to inspect, only to determine the part was damged and not defective, they can charge back the dealer for the repair.

Building it stronger is always the best way to go.

If you have any questions on the build make a thread asking. A few of us have built a "few" ecotecs to say the least and might be able to provide any guidance you might need.
